Xiaomi phone's specs and hardware are good and attractive to buyers. The only holdbacks are their bad software / skin, a lot of bloatwares and the one that i hate most is that they force the user to upload contacts to their own drive. Reasons why i ditched xiaomi and bought huawei. From 2019 upto now 2025, i didn't experience those cons with huawei. If only today huawei has google services and updates, i would still buy their phones.

Imagine if Samsung ditched the S series to call their flagship 17 Pro Max, then Vivo, Oppo, and every smartphone manufacturer doing the same, all being brand + 17 Pro Max.
Also new Xiaomi OS is just like iOS 26, but cheaper looking as a Temu/Wish counterfeit.
What’s the next step? Xiaomi changing its brand name to Apple (with uppercase i replacing the l).
They just can’t compete anymore.

I used to be super hyped for this phone, but after seeing the photo samples… wow. The AI processing is insane : faces look totally artificial, almost like generative AI. They’re distorted or overly smooth, it doesn’t even look real anymore, it’s honestly shocking 🤯
Try looking at the “10x crop from 5x telephoto camera” samples, and also the “main camera 2x low-light photos” it’s so obvious there. The faces, the trees, even the traffic look totally off.

Xiaomi named their flagship "17 Pro Max”.
They skipped a whole number and stole the "Pro Max" branding just to match Apple’s whole lineup. Plus, they even dumped their "Mi" identity already for a couple of generations.
This isn't "copying" anymore. This is a desperate, shady marketing scam to confuse consumers. They couldn't compete, so now they're just trying to impersonate the real thing. It's pathetic.

However, from what I've read and watched from well respected phone gurus like Mr. Whosetheboss,Mkbhd, Oscarmini and others, I believe Xiaomi 17 pro max is a superior phone when compared to the iPhone 17 pro max. Yes, the Xiaomi 17 pro max is suppose to be a rip-off of the iPhone 17 pro max but it'll be hard to call it a rip-off if the Xiaomi 17 pro max is actually the superior phone in virtually every category when compared to the iPhone. Just my opinion though
