I'm a bit torn TBH, why is no one mentioning the chromatic aberration of the photos? I can't deny the photos look great, but the chroma aberration is a "warning light" for me.

I'm a long time Samsuns S user (S7,S9, S10+, S20, S21U, S23U) and I'm wondering about this Oppo, Vivo X300Pro or future S26U (which I see as a safe bet in terms of safe all around phone that just works without surprises)

I can't see myself doing the same with this new one.

Anonymous, 30 Oct 2025Can you double check? My x6 pro running Chinese version 15 ... more*If they were using genAI to "make up" details at native focal lengths

"take a look at Vivo changing lines (on buildings for example) from horizontal to vertical when you zoom from 85mm to 2x/4x ISZ"

If they were using genAI to "make up" details at native resolution, then:
                1. The details would be at a MUCH lower level than simply demosaicing the RAW image due to the restriction in hardware performance and its output resolution
                2. It wouldn't have been able to process the photos instantaneously

There would be literally no point in doing so. You should also need to take into account that Bayer demosaicing itself is a guessing process that essentially "fakes" two-thirds of the colour information in a RAW file to create a full-resolution RGB image based on a coloured mosaic pattern. GSMArena's old balcony scene was a great example for this, where most of the phones failed to render the holes on the balcony walls correctly at 1x when shooting in 12MP (but many of them managed to resolve them correctly when 2x ISZ was used, thanks to super resolution stacking and demosaicing optimised for QB sensors).

One of them: cover the color sensor and everything turns pink. Other one: night is always pink-ish. Third one: pavements are always magenta-ish.

Take a look at Pura 70U and Pura 80U completely making up details at 1x and 3x, take a look at Vivo changing lines (on buildings for example) from horizontal to vertical when you zoom from 85mm to 2x/4x ISZ (the ISZ result is correct, the 85mm was guessing).

The reason this happens here is probably very aggressive AI that restores 3D/DoF (which OPPO talked LOTS about when X8U launched a.k.a LUMO) and then we get complete nonsense that has nothing to do with real life. One good thing is denoise on X8U on 4K 60FPS is almost non-existent so at least the videos are good.

You’ll never have such advanced HDR, motion photography, or OIS during long exposures (which is especially useful at night). GCam can be fine for landscapes and similar shots, but as soon as there’s any motion, people, or subjects, forget all the optimizations the stock app benefits from.

There’s the Master mode, which is pretty neat, but in that mode HDR is completely turned off. The Danxia ‘color’ sensor is also disabled (whether useful or not), and it mostly uses single-frame processing meaning way less potential than a properly tuned Auto mode, which Oppo used to have, as well as worse motion and performance at night..
