'It's not often that we see the YouTube app refresh at 120Hz when just browsing or reading the comments.'
Is this not the normal behaviour for YouTube?

This spec and design looks great.
The only way for Xiaomi to get better is to keep innovating while keeping prices lower than Apple's Iphone.
We all know all the years that the Iphone prices was hugely inflated. Yet people buy. Good alternative for those of us on android purposely.

Aierlan, 30 Oct 2025i think the only real weakness is the cameras. They are the... moreK90 PM camera samples are not that great, maybe only the telephoto is better that the 17 PM, which I think has an issue in this review. I find the Ultra Wide quite good here, despite not having AF. It is pretty bad on the Xiaomi 15, really lack sharpness. I had the Mi 11 Pro before and using Gcam the telephoto was really great (with the native app it was really awful). I really regret this phone, camera quality was really nice on all the sensors.

for that kind of a price, man what a scam and a criminal, for the sake of rear screen and you gonna need a china's id just to use it like bruhhh it's a controller not a walking spying device

i think the only real weakness is the cameras. They are the weakest of all the pro models comparing OPPO, Honor and Vivo and in China this phone is also slightly more expensive than OPPO and Vivo. In particular the ultrawide and periscope are relatively poor. The ultrawide is a pure downgrade from the Xiaomi 15 pro and Xiaomi 15. The Redmi k90 pro max is a much better value option in China i think with the same main camera as the standard Xiaomi 17, same periscope as the Xiaomi 17 pro and same ultrawide as all the Xiaomi 17 series. You really don't lose out much anywhere from the Xiaomi 17 pro max (apart from the rear screen which i personally dislike in any case. It's pretty useless apart from self filming and it's a nuisance in practice) and you get even better speakers. Unfortunately though the Redmi k90 pro max doesn't have LTE B20 so mqybe it's not the best choice for import into Europe. Xiaomi has consistently given the worst telephotos on their standard and pro model flagship series phones for a couple of years in a row. 5x is a strange choice too as it means the phone totally relies on the main camera and ai from over 2x up until the 5x kicks in. Personally i think a something around 85mm would be a lot more practical. Basically, if you want better telephoto performance and a Xiaomi phone, then it's better to wait for the ultra model or just get last year's Xiaomi 15 ultra. Apart from the cameras though i think this is very strong in basically all other areas

"Pro Max" with a cheap plastic back?
lmao, Chinese “shanzai” standards, I guess…
Skipping a whole number just to copy Apple's "17" to confuse consumers wasn't enough, huh?

Expected more from the display and cameras.
Like usual, it has the classic Xiaomi throttling issue.
Still a solid device though, just a bit shame it could have been better, it's like Xiaomi doing it on purpose for the 17 Ultra.

Wish Xiaomi put in same size battery without using silicon carbon, because the latter is less durable than regular lithium.
Maybe at some point Xiaomi will do it? I hope so.
Great phone

I remember the deluded Samsung & Apple fanboys who said silicon carbide batteries wouldn't work out
