Grand 8 megapixel shootout: The latest and greatest

I've had the Renoir phone now for over a week. The camera is very good - there's no denying that. I've made a few postings in the preview article for the phone on this site.
The user interface is also good. It's not an iPhone and people should not compare it to the touch capabilities of the iPhone or iPod Touch... both of which are in a league of their own. The Renoir's touch-screen UI is better than I thought it would be. Using the number key and QWERTY keyboard is very easy to do. Just like most things, the more you use it the better you'll get.
It's not to say that the Renoir is perfect, however. The phone still has a number of issues that can do with fixing from LG. I hope they go with a true symbian touch UI for their next iteration of the Renoir.

Anonymous, 07 Nov 2008yeee, what about video quality, divx play or record? what a... moreIn my country C905 price about US$522, INNOV8 about US$690, user interface even without touchscreen I prefer SE, I like SE website information support especially for update software. Sorry about other features beside camera.. yeah you are right.. but it makes price too expensive for the phone. For price vs. feature i think C905 is good to buy.

Here's another full review (although not as detailed) on the Renoir.
The reviewer must really like the device, as she claims it to be "one of the best phones to come out in ages", and ranks it above the Samsung i8510 Innov8. Not to mention the fact that usability of the Renoir was actually reviewed to be BETTER than the Samsung 8MP phones.

Anonymous, 07 Nov 2008those are nice photographs, but i think they have too much ... moreI fully agree with the rankings. The differences between the group is negligible but, the only one that would be sufficient for indoors, low-light, and night time photos is the c905. Otherwise enjoy your A3 size photos of landscape and architecture. Not to mention SE releases firmware upgrades continuously(not always timely)till they have everything optimized. Also the cam-drivers that developers release for SE's are fantastic. SE fanboy or not you can't deny that other than c905 the flashes are garbage and borderline useless..

speaking of fanboys, i wonder why gsmarena comment section is always filled with fanboys (especially SE fanboys), the one which looks like they're ready to pick a fight with anyone who stands against them.
ie, this review's comment section already has fanboys ( 3C6K , M@Ti , 2IBR , jDvD , 43e9 , TIE7 , M7dq , mCSY , v0qx , uEyt , etc) comments which some of them clearly trying to start a fight just because the winner of this review is not SE product.

first, it's a nice review, i hope this will shut those arrogant fanboys mouth off forever since their so-called-perfect-phones lose in almost every shootouts on the internet.
second, i think gsm arena should add some photos taken using a real digicam (Canon, Fuji, or Nikon) as colour reproduction comparison to those image taken by those cameraphones.

JiN, 06 Nov 2008check out the Renoir pix on flickr taken by advanced photog... moreYeah it should. According to PhoneArena:
It's not an easy conclusion, but the LG Renoir comes out as the most complete device in terms of camera features. The other mobiles are still pretty close, but remain runner-ups.
SE C905: 5/10 • Samsung INNOV8: 8/10 • Samsung Pixon: 6/10 • LG Renoir: 9/10

Price around 460 Euro, not cheaper than the other three.
User interface also not any better. 2.4" is a little too small.
Customer Support... no comment yet. But i believe Samsung's customer support are equally good. LG is improving on this area too.

C905 may not be the best camera result but still the best to buy among them. Don't forget about other factors like price, user interface, support, and other features beside camera.

Viewty Owner, 06 Nov 2008LG Renoir buyers are in for a disappointment. I made the... moreI for one did not have much of a problem in regards to LG customer support for the Renoir. But I do agree that upgrades were hard to come by. We should reserve judgement for LG consumer support and firmware upgrades for Renoir for now since its too early in the game. What I do know is that LG has been steadily improving in all facets including model design, feature specifications and overall quality. As such, it is only fair to assume that they are hard at work improving upon after sales customer support as well.
