Nokia N79 review: Swiss Army knife

20 November 2008
Nseries keep on throwing heavy-spec'd phones at us and there's no question they're hitting their best form in quite a while. About time we got less of a curve ball lookswise, Nokia N79 embodies a new approach to Nseries styling...

Greg, 20 Nov 2008I dont understand why not having document editing capabilit... morehave this phone in my hand for more than 2 weeks !awesome looks and performance!and it can edit ms files!
and the gps is god too!go to mobile-review . com! there they say that the camera module is no difference from n82!xcept for xenon!and they also sy that gps is one of the best performance of it among the nseroes!
gsm always put some pretyped disadvantages!all the nseries and also navigators hav bad review of gps(in gsm)then how can you say that its worse than others!
and another thing they said it was better than n85 in photography in the review of 85 but now they say n79 is really bad!
now what is this gsm! in every phone's review you guys try to badmouth that phone and in other review u use that same phone as a hero! wow!

kitch, 20 Nov 2008Have u guys seen this phone in store or dummy. It looks mu... moreIt's a matter of personal preference, though Nokias always look plastic to me... Perhaps it's that glossy plastic they use that are so commonly seen in toys. Case in point, Nokia 6500 slide... Gosh, nice metal parts combined with terrible black cheap-looking plastic.

gsmarena says that camera performance is not that good, but when reviewing n85 they say that n79's camera is a little better than n85's
Thats a big misstake you know

I wasnt sure on the looks of this phone from the online pics and wasnt going to buy it, then after playing with the grey version for 30 seconds in the nokia flagship store in London I was totally sold. The looks are stunning in the flesh so much better than the SE w902 which looks awesome in the piccys but is average in the flesh

It looks mu... moreyea bro i've noticed this about nokia too, the phones actually look better in real than compared to the offical pics, with other brands such as SE the official pics make the phone look so cool but in real they are dull, but nokia i love just lookin at them, the N79 is wow! but i just don like the dpad...it looks alot cooler when the center button is big and the navi wheel is thin, like the N78! but will definetly have a look at N79 at the stores! later homie!

I dono know why gsmarena is making issue with zooming.
U guys are reviewing a phone without firmware update or r u biased with nokia nseries to highlight some non-existent issues. I have N79 and i never faced any zooming problem. Why u guys faced problem in both of highend Nseries N85 & N79. Even other review sites didn't complain about zooming and GPS then why.

Why did u delete my post

I dont understand why not having document editing capabilities out of the box is such a big deal.. The phones are obviously not built for that purpose especially as it does not have push email. If its document editing youre looking for check out Eseries phones.

Yeah it's kind of ugly :-( I kind of wish Nokia or other manufacturers would make great multimedia phones with full qwerty keypads. They can be condensed like the m600i's (wonderful keypad btw! Got so used to it!) That's the dream phone I'm looking for, basically the innov8 with qwerty.
