And ha i forgot about the camera.. nothing to talk about it.. pl say its better than n73.. its NOTHING in comparing guys.. n73 had amazing optics compare to this one.. this seems like my moms 6300 mpx cam.. but outdoor images are quite nice.. video recording is quite ok..
and yeah screen rotation is quite sensitive.. more when the phone is inclined or flat on its back..

Well well.. I have been a keen follower of gsmarena since the past many years in cellphone reviews.. But this time it seems either they got a very protypish phone or just bad firmware.. Cz i have been using this phone for like a week and its a breeze to work with.. Ok now i mention my likes n dislikes below just for any new prospetive owners of this awesome DEVICE!!
Pros:
-Amazing screen
Its not just the size frnds, the resolution is awesome.. If u have some nice high quality pics just place then as a wallpaper and u will c the magic.. I have never seen such a nice display on a cell (yet to c n85s oled)
- Weight
many ppl ignore the fact tht this is a light phone.. it hardly adds any weight.. while listenig to music i put the phone in my shirts front pocket n hardly felt a tug, which i used to feel so much in my n73..
-OS
i have to disagree with many ppl here maybe cz i am loving this new symbian.. i have been thru all versions right frm 3650-ngage-7650-7610-3231-3250-n73-n95(guess thts it) but only the last two s60s tht is 9.1 n 9.4 seemd well planned n thought upon OS.
First of all its is quite fast if u disale theme effects..
This one has to many shortcuts i hardly go in the options tag..
I am a very much SMS sender and the organisation of sms likein groups n all it quite handy for me..
u can directly sms frm logs , contacts
directy reply or forward sms without gng in options..
directly set video tones..
many things yet to be discovered....
-Music
One word.. AMAZING..
headphones suck as everybody knows.. I used my regular sony mp3 player headphones n it rocked.. also with Moto S9 it was very good.. much better than n73..
Speaker are something really cool as they are loud n clear.. sumthing the 3250 had.. but it had one speaker n tht too in a bad place.
but this baby has it right where u need it.. very nice sound i actually play it few levels below the full volume as it is too loud for me too!!
hmm used Wlan gps etc all are good. browsing is a pleasure in landscape mode..
Touch
well i hardly use the stylus, i do have thick huge fingers but i manage..the only time a face a problem is while scrolling, come to tht later..
the haptic feedback is quite good, it gives a mmm well feedback and feels nice..
now enuf of tht lets go where everyone wantd to know the BAD things..
Navgation
i dont thing including a navi wheel wud be such a big thing for the designers..
sometimes ppl dont want to slide fingers all across the screen n prefer to use te\he navi for lil things.. like in HTC Touch i didnt use the stylus but used to go around listening to music viewing doc etc with the d-pad.. it seriously sux NOKIA pls add it to later touch series!!
Also one point the scrolling is not available in the opp direction..
for eg i have a contact of the name Xander.. i will have to scroll from a>z.. i cannot go upwards from A to Z Y X.. got my point.. same goes for every list.. Music files ,menu items, even the options list u cannot directly go to the last option (EXIT) etc
build quality
it isnt bad but the best word wud be its cheap.. but the phone is noway in comparision to nseries build quality an price range too!!
my n73 even afer 18months of torture didnt creak or crack.. but i spent quite a lot to buy it.. this phone doesnt pinch ur pocket so the bulit quality goes behind and the amazing screen takes ur attention..
Remote
the remote SUX
yeah i hate it.. my previous one was so cool.. the clip behind is fixed hence u can hang it in only one direction, and the keys placements are bad too.. before it was along the sider now nokia put them in corners n thts bad atleast for me. before play\pause were perfectly placed below the call key but now its in a shitty cornr..but well nothing can b done as i see all phones frm nokia have the same remote.. gotta search for n91s remote now..
hmm well tht sums it up..sorry for a long post.. seems like a blog post..donno is gsmarena will accept it.. ad yeah battery life is quite nice but WIFI n GPS n continous screen usage will take its toll.. listen to music it will go on the whole day and another..
Any questions i wud be happy to answer..

i have a que... more5800 is a symbian phone, so you can set a code to prevent acess to your phone, if you want. You can also prevent acess to your memory card if you want. I can't give you feedback on how to do it, but I think it will be easy. If can anyone else help, I'll apreciate. Sorry for my bad english.

I can't help but feel some sort of negativity in this review, you've got to have in mind that this is a mid range phone and go from there.
And even as a mid range phone it feel like you're using a high range one, like many people here i disagree with many of the negative aspects that were mentioned in the review and i'm far away from being a fanboy, in fact this is the first nokia i've ever owned and it's just an amazing phone, i would like to mention some of the real negative aspects of the phone for any potential buyer out there.
1)Camera. There's no excuse, the camera just sucks.
2)Ear piece. Many 5800s have an ear piece issue where when in a call the volume fluctuates and it's very annoying. Theres a simple, yet scary, way to fix it but of course, it voids your warranty. You could always take it to a care center if you're not a do it yourself kinda person.
3)Screen rotation. Way to sensitive for my taste. Sometimes the screen goes to landscape with a simple hand movement and i end up looking foolish trying to make the screen go back again lol. You could always turn it off.
These are the 3 main negative aspects about the phone that in my own opinion i dislike the most, but overall the phone is just fantastic, if you're thinking of getting this phone, don't hesitate; you wont regret it!

Hello to all,
I've just received two units in my store, and although they are only being launched in my country 31st January, I'd like to share my experience after a hands-on testing of both devices:
First of all, both of them (blue and red) are made in Hungary, but I'm confident that even the ones produced in China are good enough. Second of all, I'm not a nokia fan, but my opinion is rather favorable, I like both handsets very much (I don't know if it's pure luck)...
TOUCHSCREEN: Fast and responsive, not lags at all, and it's a breeze to write messages (to a heavy texter like me, that's very important.) I like the menus, as I like Symbian powered smartphones (specially the samsung ones, I'm afraid, but the user friendliness helds true to this Nokia also).
CAMERA: Stop whining, the camera is very good for a mid-range phone, if you want to take extremely good photos, buy a Sony Alpha. The photos are fit for MMS, and I think that's the main purpose. Videos are excellent (ah, that sweet 30fps...)
GALLERY: Thumbs up, for a non-N series. Yes, it lacks some originality and innovation, but again, that's a mid-range phone.
PHONEBOOK: It's symbian, I don't think I need to say anything else.
WI-FI: Works without problems, where I live
STYLUS, PLECTRUM: Both work very well, but I hate the plectrum styling. I agree that's fit for a XpressMusic phone, but I can't like it.
SOUND (MUSIC CONCERNED): Loud, crisp and without distortion. Don't be expecting the same performance of a good dedicated music player (but it beats by points any Haier or less well-known brands), but good enough for a mobile phone - I say it again, it's a mid-range phone). Advice: use a quality earphones (Sennheiser or Bang and Olufsen) and the magic will come...
SOUND (CALL CONCERNED): Weakest point of the mobile, some problems with the reception... At least in my units... I can't use it to make many calls, but as far as I tested, I didn't like it.
SUNLIGHT VISBILILTY: I don't agree with gsmarena, no problems at all.
SALES PACKAGE: The price in my country is 340€ sim-free, and it delivers with a 8GB memory card, a DC Charger, a TV-Out Cable, a USB cable, a spare stylus (plus the one inserted in the device), a plectrum, a carrying case, and a bunch of manuals and one dvd. Plus, we're giving for free for pre-reservations a Nokia BH-102 Bluetooth Headset. For a phone this price, not bad at all, don't you agree?
FINAL OPINION: I don't buy too many mobiles, but this one I'm gonna buy for sure. THUMBS UP FOR NOKIA...
Note: This is my personal opinion, of course, everybody is free to disagree.
Best regards to all,
James

5800 review states:
With all Java games, the handset offers a virtual D-pad and gaming A, B, C, D buttons so you can make use of non-touch-enabled games. There's an option to hide those controls, but that doesn't mean you will be able to play Java games fullscreen - they have fixed resolutions.
How do I HIDE the controls? I have loaded Gmail (Java not S60) and I just cannot get it to full screen...

"The resolution of 360 x 640 pixels is also second to the E90 business monster only. In fact, outside the Windows Mobile realm there isn't any other device to match the display resolution (no - not even the omnipresent iPhone 3G)"
it's wrong, guys...
Sharp SX862(HongKong version) and any other Japanese phone use 854x480..
931SH was 1024x480, very fantastic with AQUOS display.
By the way,5800 has a good screen too..
yeah,5800 kills all iPhone,BlackBerry,SE(except xperia x1,its windows mobile btw),Motorola,LG(except some Korean-only model),Samsung(except some Korean-only model, too) in terms of Screen Resolution.
640x360 looks very good after all.
it's very suitable for browsing,video playback,etc
sorry for my poor english :P
