MWC 2009: Nokia overview

Market leaders Nokia are usually among the key news makers at the Mobile World Congress. Unfortunately this year, the manufacturer failed to reveal an all-in-one flagship as an answer to the pressure of other manufacturers...

more of the same...anything new but the 8mx. other mobiles of samsung and lg and sony ericcson are much better in feautures and design than nokia...fat touchscreem mobiles with 5mpx maximun or old desing mobiles with 8mpx...nokia is first but not for much time...ANYTHING NEW!! :(

      Jeje, in the nokia N86 8MP specs - http://www.gsmarena.com/nokia_n86_8mp-2713.php - , on the white phone on the top says N85 8Mp, and it is clear that it is not a N85, that's weird :-/

        I was not saying that iPhone is the best or anything like that. All I was saying, and what is a simple fact, that even today, two years after the release of the iPhone, Nokia still can not produce anything like that. I am not talking about the camera or the Bluetooth, I am talking about the overall user experience.
        It is simple – Nokia is loosing the game. Nothing lasts forever, Nokia is no exception to this rule.

          The iphone has a great interface and good screen size but thats it.
          The bluetooth isn't AD2P, it hav a 2MP camera, no video, cant copy paste, no adobe flash support, no keyboard... the screen keyboard is ok but predictive nokias are a lot quicker and the N97 will be quicker still.

          The N86 looks like it will be one of the best phones available with very few shortcomings. GO NOKIA!!

            i'm not buying another nokia slider like the N86 until Nokia can figure out how to improve build quality for slider mechanisms...I went through two N85s with horrible build quality from the slide, screen, and d-pad...get with it Nokia!!

              What we have seen so far from Nokia is S60 platform in dozzen of packages (read: designs)... With this Commodore design of N85 or N86(I dont know what), we dont even get any design (its so ugly)... So why go for NOKIA when Life's Good with LG.............

                  I like the idea of this phone.

                  I'm curious to see:
                  What the "Gen 2" LEDs have to offer vs. Xenon
                  How the build quality really is, there seems to be conflicting info.
                  How the Ovi Store is implemented.
                  How do you remove the back cover.
                  Which chip, i.e. hardware 3D acc

                  I Like:

                  Battery life.
                  Mechanical shutter
                  Variable aperture
                  Optimized (Faster) camera response
                  OLED
                  Chicklet like buttons.
                  Glass Screen cover!!!
                  Use of Metal for style and durability.

                  I Don't care about:

                  8MP, give me a optical zoom already!
                  Kickstand, really screen is to small in order (for me) to need this.

                  Why not have:

                  OK no Xenon for video, why not have 720p or 60/120 fps recording options?
                  Aux input for mic
                  More RAM!!!

                  Anyhow maybe it's like the tube, and we will see something a little more worthwhile in Q4........ If build quality is good then I will probably pic this up to replace my N85 which has been to the Nokia service center twice already for build quality issues. I would love to see this be released in a special edition with more metal, like the E71.

                    Hey guys, there is a nokia 8208. Its a dual slider, but it appears to run on s40. Google "nokia devices" and go to the 2nd or 3rd link. It has press photos of nokia's 8208, n86, e75 and e55.
                    By the way, n86 rocks. To all the haters, we pity you indeed. You're so jealous you can't stand it that the best 8mp cameraphone is finally here and it belongs to nokia.

                      One thing Iam unable to digest is how a major player like nokia is releasing business handsets with just single sim function.Business executives most of them are using 2sims even 3 at times.when is nokia going to realise the need for more sims and gonna release handsets that can handle them??
                      p.s.
                      If unknown manufacturers from china can do it,cant the major manufacturer? Are we smelling something fisht here?

                                I am no SE fan.. I am a mobile phone user. And I comment phones without sick emotions towards a brand. The fact is that Nokia has disappointed us this time! They come here not prepared. They will loose some market share because of this. It is simple as that. Of course brainless fanboys like you will never admit that.

                                    Nokia has failed big-time!!

                                    They are so stupid that they even forget to hide the sigh which shows that the phone is N85!! Now they added a better camera and their it is! The new uber phone of all.
                                    Or not!!
                                    Looks like Nokia is the only manufacturer to be embarrassed with nothing to show this year. This will continue the trend of loosing market share and profits. No wander, when two and a half year passed and they STILL CAN`T RIVAL THE iPHONE!!!! This is unbelievable!!! The formal biggest manufacturer of mobile hone to fail this big!
                                    Well, nothing last for ever. Nokia was big, just like Motorola, but now they are starting to disappear in the fog of time.

                                      The more i see the more i like.

                                      Nokia looks like they have fixed a few bugs (Quality, finger prints, flat buttons) plus added 8gb, great camera and compas.

                                      WELL DONE NOKIA!!!
                                      i will be getting one ASAP as will a lot of people judging by the hits on gsm arena

                                        the thing that i cant understand is that y gsmarena licks a nokia all ends up..wen it has the same design of an old phone...and just a meagre improvement...!!!
