Sony Ericsson Satio (Idou) preview: First look

5 June 2009
Sony Ericsson Satio (a.k.a. Idou) is perched at the top of the touchscreen food chain with an ominous grin. Currently rivaled only by the Samsung Omnia HD, the 12 megapixel predator readily bares its teeth...

[deleted post]They did skin the UI. The regular Symbian is very blank but Sony upped it up and changed it to be quite catchy. But the more megapixels u use the more space will be taken on card/phone memory.

[deleted post]who need a flash memory when you can put a 16gb micro sd , who cares for that port ?? thats just a minor problem, 12 mega pixels camera is better than Samsung innov8 plus Satio is just a prototype and will come out in October which means it will improve even more , "the same boring symbian 5th" !!!! I must agree with you that Symbian looks boring but Satio is the first phone to make a revolution, it brings a brilliant UI and even gsmarena said they are happy with that UI

"The only GPS software which is bundled in the Satio is Google Maps. The app is the same as in the 5800 XpressMusic and offers full screen view with two small zoom buttons in the down left corner. "

In the 5800 XM there's the Nokia Maps, not Google maps.

"Removing the battery cover reveals the 1000 mAh Li-Po BST-33 battery. The battery is able to power up the handset for almost two days with Bluetooth constantly turned on and email syncing at regular intervals."

I havent used the innov8 however i believe its one of the best mobile phone cameras out there due to reviews.
i can however see a major difference between the clarity of the satio and the innov8.
The satio is way clearer. I can almost count the lines in the safety guards around the apartment whereas they are blurry in the innov8. This might be due to the pixel count
As was said the satio is stil in beta form but then agen maybe the camera wont be improved in the final version

i wonder what nokia are thinkin.
Would i buy it? Nah... Im waiting to see what samsung and apple release this month. :-)
it stil seems like samsung is winning it but we'l see

O.k Its sounds impressive having a 12 mega-pixel camera on a mobile phone, but its the price were going to have to pay for it an run it,that the produces do not think about,an if the battery is to weak not allowing you to use the function fully by lasting a day its more costly,so can"t wait to see the cheapest price of this mobile on contract an the sim-free price

horus92, 05 Jun 2009I'm not impressed by the pictures. I can't expect professio... morewhat are you talking about. It matched the innov8 which was the BEST 8Mp camera. Considering it was a t more resolution it did pretty well.

You could honestly say that for the c905, but this is just below a P&S level which is good for a normal phones shots
