I've had e65, 6120c, n78, 6110... but this is the WORST nokia I've ever had!
Y whould a manufacturer exclude backlight display time settings (that's only one bad point of this phone)???????????
soft loudspeaker, can't hear properly in outdoor areas, poor sunlight vis, take-photo-activition key... is that a joke? I mean, u press and when u release it just takes the pic even if it's not focused, my n78 with 3.2 carl zeiss (much respect) lens takes way better pics than this FIVE mp camera on longer range and even in darkness

I hate this phone! The microphone is useless and so I miss more calls and texts than I hear. Ieven miss calls when it's in my pocket. The backlight on the screen is awful and goes to black far too quickly when making a call so you never know what's going on. When texting the default in to To field is alpha not numeric, why???? Very frustrating. The user guide talks in jargon that I don't understand. I hate this phone and I hate it even more because I have a two year contract.

I've had a Nokia 6500 slide for the last two years and love it. I needed a backup phone as my 6500 slide has to have it's speaker replaced. I don't need internet, touch screen etc but a quality robust phone to do the basics.
When I saw this phone I loved the look, size and feel of it, especially the stainless steel case front and back and the fact that it was a bit smaller and rounded than the 6500 slide. The way I looked at it was that this phone would be at least as good as the 6500 slide but how mistaken I was.
The camera was not good at all. I think if you want decent photos you really need a sony ericsson with a bigger lens etc. I wasn't expecting better image quality than the 3 mega pixel on my current 6500 slide but was expecting at least the same quality photos. I mainly take close up shots of things such as A4 sized pages and the camera struggled to get a lock, especially close up. When it couldn't get a lock it took the photo anyway as you let go of the shutter key. On the 6500 slide you pressed a seperate button half way till you got a focus lock. I can't understand how the test chart photos in this review is so good. Maybe the camera on my phone was duff.
The phone screen would also black out after about 8 seconds as some sort of power saver. I went through all the menus to extend this but there doesn't seem to be possible. I searched on internet for solutions and found a lot of people had the same gripe.
The screen always seemed to be dull and depressing especially the standard desktops and wallpapers.
If you scroll through your photos quickly the camera software couldn't quite keep up and would show icons first before thumbnails.
The ringer and alarm volume were too muted and I felt the alarm wouldn't necessarily wake me up in the mornings. If you turned the phone screen down the volume was a bit louder.
I wish I could speak to the Nokia designer of this phone and tell him that the 6600i could have been a brill phone if he could have just shoehorned in the exact insides of the 6500 slide.
I'm now going to return the phone for a refund and have already ordered another Nokia 6500 slide just before they stop being available.
I hope this helps.

These nokia sliders all seem to blend into each other, so many are alike, they look too similar, it's becoming hard to tell the difference!

i think the biggest drawback of this fone is its dated OS. S40 looks totally out of place in today's world ... and especially for a fone that cossts so much ... it isnt some low end handset ... think GSMARENA should really put it out in BOLD in the conclusion section that you would be getting an OS thats really 2006 material....
