if, 03 Nov 2009plastic body, plastic screen, plastc, plastic plastic..anot... morewhy you are so negative about plastic ,
in your daily life most of the times of the items that you use is made of plastic ans plastic
if you mean why not to be metal , then that does not justify that X10 is a bad producut .
if you look to the modern planes , only 10% is made of metals and the rest is composite materials ,,, the world of materials is changing now adays , and we have to change too ,
no one have manufatured full metal phone packed with all these features with a resonable price... since to make it full metal will be costly , but not to be said better.

These are the official specs from the sonyericsson site:

                480 x 854 pixels WVGA
                16,536 color TFT touchscreen \

It doesn't have 262k color display, you are lying, it has ONLY 16,536 colors! Correct your mistake!

HTC Hero only looks good in production pictures and advert photos. All live shots I've seen of it is very depressing.

Based on the hands on shots of Sony Ericsson Rachael X10, this phone probably have the best looking live-shots I've seen.

Hero is slow in comparison btw... I was excited and let down by Hero after reading reviews :/

I might think that the phone will be upgradeble to Eclair shortly after the release. I mean that is not rocket science and I would bet my left nut that the SE guys already have played around with Eclair for a while but are taking the safe way to ensure the phones is out in time.

I believe Moto Droid is much better. New OS, hw keyboard, WVGA screen, better GPU, slimmer and I guess cheaper!

I was very very disappointed that it has only 262K color for such a big screen. Nowadays all the mobiles have even, more smaller screens, 16M of color as standart. I can understand lacking of multi-touch, gestures and even Xenon flash! But not to have 16M color for a such big and beautiful screen! I hope SE, you can hear our screams and change that stupid 262K screen to 16M one! Otherwise, I have to say that I will go for another Android device which has 16M color, at least.

Well, I really want to switch to Android soon, but I'm still waiting for a phone to truly capture me. I like the look and feel of the Hero, but compared to the upcoming devices it does seem a bit underpowered.

So here I was, truly looking forward to the X10 and loving all the specs about it. BUT, compared to the Hero, it does look VERY plasticky. The Hero, being built by HTC, is so solid and elegant.

Well, who knows what will happen. I'm not going to get a new phone quite yet, so I'll wait until the X10 comes out and at least have a look at it. Perhaps by then HTC has released or announced something irresistible.

"the XPERIA™ X10 introduces a new UX platform that will evolve across the product portfolio and expand over time continuously introducing new features and capabilities."

Sounds like SE intends to keep updating the software. Perhaps taking a page from Apple on constant software updates even on older handsets (2g 3g ipodtouch)...

the only time i've used multi touch on the Pre is when i'm zooming into pictures.
And with that gesture I must use two hands-- 1 to hold the phone, and 1 to gesture.

With my resistive LG touch screen, I use the phone 1 handed.

Not that I'm saying multi-touch is bad. Its def' welcomed! If the hardware is there, I don't see why a software update won't give it a multi-touch boost :D
