19 November 2009
Usually when Nokia makes an Nseries announcement the geek world trembles with excitement, expecting to see the next master of the multimedia realm. Nokia N900 didn't make any exception to this rule though it was pitched...

Xperia X10 , 21 Nov 2009Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 all the way. nokia n900 is a big b... moreX10 has a 1.6 years old OS. Get it? (Hint: Android 1.6)

Do you even know why? That's because Google had an exclusive deal with Motorola. Due SE's inability of making their own OS they have ended up with the scraps of the market.

Now, please, stop complaining. The N900 is all about the innovative software. The hardware is good - I agree - but it's only there to provide and enable all the features it has. For example, there is no projector, since Maemo doesn't support it anyway. But it does have a stronghold of a CPU to enable extreme multi-tasking.

On the other side, the CPU isn't clocked at 1GHz - but why should it be? Is there any other phone with better multi-tasking possibilities? This would only lead to a loss of battery. Remember, performance is a combination of hardware AND software - and very few phones deliver on BOTH sides.

Phones can have crappy hardware (see the N97), crappy software (see the X10) or both (see the LG Crystal) - but keep in mind that there actually are SOME crown jewels (a.k.a. exceptions of this rule) as well. N900, N95 and possibly Omnia HD are some of the few examples - while the X10 isn't.

I would like to see some photos comparing the 5mp camera of N900 and satio... I know that satio is comparing with N97 and N900 maybe with XPERIA cause the OS.... but with these photos you will show clearly the ability of N900 camera...
N900 is just perfect except of its camera... and that cause ericsson produced satio with 12mp... and everyone make this comparison...

I bought Nokia 7610 5 years ago... at the same price as N900 price.(500 euro) It was the second Nokia using Sympian os and was the first 1mp phone...
All these 5 years, watching the sympian phones around i was feeling that my phone was just ok... cause the def... was only at the cpu and camera and when s60 3rd edition comed around i was not able to run some applications...(the newest versions of the app i was using... i have installed 40 app on it)
So 7610 was a great choice...

I dont know if it will be a mistake to buy N900-maemo, cause it's the first device using this better version of maemo in a normal shape but
i hope Nokia keep update the os... and when the maemo 6 will be available let the older models(N900+...) use the new applications after some pathes.

Maemo 5 is great and with the updates NOKIA will make it perfect before produce other device...

I NEED PHONE NOW AND THE NOKIA N900 IS THE BEST AT THIS PERIOD...
I hope it will be as good as 7610 was 5 years ago.

I'm more worried about the resistive screen...can anyone who gets hold of N900 give an in-depth review of it? I have watched lots of video clips on youtube...and I notice that the screen looks more capacitive rather than resistive. However, GSMArena makes a reviews on the sensitivity of the screen that it needs a slight push (rather than a click) to register a click. If the screen is like the one on HTC HD, it would be suck. I sold it less than 24 hours. I'm serious. I hate WinMo now.

Again, more reviews on the screen sensitivity is needed. I have no worries about the performance or graphic.

Like Android, Maemo app community will come through later. It's just a matter of time.

NvS, 21 Nov 2009I'm not very interested in nokia's touchscreen or maemo,no ... moreWTF you said that N900 still far behind than iPhone. You better think twice before you said that. Can iPhone do multi-tasking at least 25 apps, browsers etc running in the background with no lags? The answer should be 'Perfectly beyond your imagination. NO!!. The N900 can do the multi-tasking with 30 apps or browsers (while still loading in the background) with a very very very very little lags. And the 'brick' size is not true. It's smaller than a brick. iPhone sucks because have a same design and no video calls.

From what I've read, it isn't possible to run Opera Mini (or other Java apps) on the N900 currently. Do you guys know if this will be possible in the future?
