10 February 2010
Is surfing the web on your phone as important to you as calling and texting? So, how does it feel? That’s the question we’ll be trying to answer. Mobile browsers are becoming an essential piece of software for mobile phones. And the...

Nice article GSMArena, nice to really see 'everybody' in a comparing video. All other site's do mostly iPhone vs. 1 or 2 others.

Anyways I think you did a good job in looking at different things regarding the browsers of each phone, not just 'lets see how fast each browser loads GSMArena'. Though I did not learn anything new from this.. maybe a few things. I did not know the N900 browser was that good. Sounds really awesome. And I did not know that the X10 was already in a stage that you are using it in this kind of articles.

Anyway, I am now even more happy with my HTC HD2. Opera Mobile 9.7 really works well, and with a few simple tweaks (you can even download 1 cab file, easy as that) you can improve the browser even more! It will become just as, or even more, smooth as the iPhone 3Gs browser. You can even get rid of the 'checker boxes' when quickly scroling trough a website.

Skyfire I ONLY use for the flash, because in terms of well.. the rest, it really gets crushed by Opera Mobile.

Opera Mobile 10 beta 3 (released yesterday) is also starting to get better and better. When that gets finished, I hope I can say goodbye to Opera Mobile 9.7. But for now, 9.7 with the tweaks I have make it really a perfect browser for me.

Adobe should release full mobile flash already :D

PS: Don't forget that the HTC HD2 has a 4.3 inch screen with a 800x480 resolution.. that is also a VERY important thing. IMO it really is one of the best browsing devices out there

This is not a discussion about devices, it has to do how websites are made. I only go to websites that has a mobile version = only those with a simple feed at 100%. Other sites I will visite with my pc.

Anonymous, 13 Feb 2010To the guy who hated the iphone because he tried the 2G and... moreThank You, however one thing i should point out, it may not concern you I don't know but as a business user it did concern me, the number of apps that offer a version of Push email on the app store that require your log in details to your email accounts.

BB are and probably always will be the leaders in mobile email provisions. Their security is second to none, you won't get a more secure method of receiving email than blackberrys.

At least it's nice to hear from another iPhone user who admits that there are negatives/lack of function about the phone and not blinded by the fact is has an apple on the back.

good review! thank you! i'd have to say that the n900's browser is by far the best browser i've ever used (opinion). i've had an iphone 3g, a nokia n97, a mytouch 3g, an htc touch pro 2 and i've played with my friend's palm pre a lot. but none of them could compare to the n900's browsing capabilities. it just has the total package. and it might sound weird, but i actually enjoy the spiral-scrolling zoom method of the n900. i'm just glad i can zoom in with one hand. =)

and yes, i work at a cellphone retail store, so i've had lots of experiences with phones.. =) thanks again, GSMArena for the good review.

To the guy who hated the iphone because he tried the 2G and 3G, I think i'm agreement with you on the first two models, but they were released before the app store came of age. Now I'm doing what blackberry users are with push messages (free to me on my unlimited contract) and I find safari to be a very capable browser.

The UI is for kiddies, the best thing apple could do with this phone is open the OS up and remove the restrictions, but the the poor battery life would get even worse :)

I ended up with 9700 but it was a close call between that and the N900 but the BB fitted my needs better.

Have to admit though that IMHO the N900 has the best browser out there at the moment for out of the box browsers.

You should have used Opera Mobile 10 on the i8910 because everybody uses it instead of the s60 browser. From this review we only found out that the built-in browser sucks, but we did not learn how the browser that people actually use compares to the competition.

MicroB on the N900 winds hands down:
                  - It's the only browser capable of flash right now.
                  - It DOES support double tap zoom and volume key to zoom as well.
                  - The browser launches in about 2 seconds.
                  - There is also a full Firefox Mobile with flash suppor fot N900.

Mobile Safari, in my opinion, is the best alternative since I even use it instead of a full web browser... say Safari for example. It's so smooth and fast it doesn't even feel like a mobile browser. As for flash games, who need them... iPhone has thousands and thousands of games in its App store which by the way the most expensive is $10.

This review is missing a "tap accuracy" test.
When tapping on a link, i find that you have to tap 5 time to get an htc hd2 running opera to get it to work. Where as an iphone works first time most times

Iphone 3gs is simply the best. Haters should just accept it and move on with their lives. The picture used for this news is the iphone's. And to think that iphone 3gs is almost a year old, it can still outperform phones that are released a month ago. Iphone rules :)

I use opera mobile 10 beta as default browser. I think it's pretty good. However when i need flash, Skyfire is the best option. Why you guys didn't put skyfire to the test?

I tried Skyfire on my 5530, loading gsmarena.com took about 10s and same with the s60 default browser. Skyfire took 15s to load ign.com while s60 default took about 45s. On ign.com with s60 once the webpage was loaded everything was smooth but with skyfire every new screen u scrolled down too it took about a second to show up. IMO, skyfire is still a lot better than s60 browser. I can watch videos straight from it but i cant do this with s60.

I don't hate the iPhone as such, but there are better phones that deserve the limelight, but this sight is biased towards the iPhone in reviews.

I have now moved on to the Bold 9700 which is a much better phone than the iPhone, OK, you may not think it looks as good, but its functionality (which is why I buy a phone) it far superior.
