Working for a mobile phone retailer ive been using this phone all week and i love it. My upgrade is due tomorrow and was adamant I wanted an X10, until I used the Desire.
Screen loves brilliant, camera isnt as bad as peaople are making out. We have the Black one instore which I think looks a bit nicer than the brown one. And obviously 2.2 will be out very soon so its seems the right time to get it

Just go mine a few hours ago from Vodafone (Romania) for 406 euro. Gotta say, I'm impressed! It's everything they said it would be and more! This is my first HTC after a series of 3 Sony-Ericssons. I'm sorry for SE, but the lack of rapidity to deliver good smartphones pushed me towards HTC. And I don't regret it one bit!

Got mine from T-Mobile DE's shop for 450 euro 3 weeks ago. I love it, the device is so slick. Fast and responsive. That is my second HTC, after the first one (S710) I had promised myself to never buy another HTC device, but I'm glad I changed my mind. Of course, I have some criticism to certain features - the battery doesn't last long (almost 1/3 the time as for my old 5800XM, with the same usage pattern - wifi + music + radio), and when recharged from PC, it takes forever (> 4h, with the dedicated charger the time is about 1h 15min). The camera is no good, but I don't mind, since I got a Compact beast anyway.
And yes, there are 6 predefined locales on the device, and English is one of them.
