HTC Desire review: A desire come true

16 April 2010
If you’ve seen the Google Nexus One, you’ve seen the HTC Desire. End of story. We liked the Nexus One so be our guest, HTC Desire. But is it all that simple? HTC are so good they build phones for the competition. HTC are so mean they have no issues competing...

Baterry life gets better after a week o so. Just have to drain the battery completely and charge the phone while it is off. do this once or twice and the batery life gets better. I use my phone for internet alot around 2 hours of 3g internet, sending couple of emails and checking emails every hour o so, playing with the phone a lot , acouple of calls and text. by the time a get home around 6 and i still have around 40 % battery. if i go nuts on 3g internet it will be around 20 %. Had the iphone 3gs wasnt any better. Had the omnia hd even worse ( that had a bigger battery). Its a smart phone with shit loads of specs. Battery life is as accepted. when htc fixes the camera to hd and when android 2.2 cames with apps beening installed to the sd card this phone will be perfect.

Just purchased the Desire. I have to say what a fantastic phone.

I have used Android since its inception, (G1 also a great device)for those considering a pruchase you need to consider what you really want most from the phone.

There are so many pro's and few cons with this device, people would be crazy to turn down the chance to own such a device.

For those who no what Android is all about will not hesitate.

you will always get those people who are considering moving to a new experience expressing doubts about one thing or another.

Once you dig deep into the soul of this device i assure you, you will very pleased with purchase.

Well done HTC, 2 great devices Legend and Desire.

[deleted post]you are forgetting about the display quality of the Desire and the Samsung Galaxy S, because the Desire isn't usable outside in a direct sunlight and the Galaxy S with the superAmoled should fix that problem. To me the display visibility is definitely more important, than a missing LED flash, i just don't remeber lately doing any night shots, but you are problably some profi night photo fetishist :D

What's up with the hideous camera of this thing? Even the Elm shots better photos and this is supposed to be a HIGH-end device. Like seriously. Quality is horrible and 15fps is for low-end phones. 120mb for apps? Like wth? Battery life is a huge disappointment. Max is probably 5-6 hours. Just wait for the EVO because this thing sux.

The Desire HAS Face recognition in camera. It's even enabled as default. Article is wrong.

Owen, 22 Apr 2010Should have mine in an hour, the wait is killing me. when you get it

the battery takes a few charges to get up to speed so dont worry about the poor battery performance

and make sure you turn all auto syncs off, otherwise the weather will uopdate every hour etc etc

Anonymous, 22 Apr 2010where is superamoled? and a decent camera?Phones barley have amoled screens, there just a few of them i think a maximum of 10 amoled smartphones out there and you already want superamoled. This is an inovation from samsung, with time, and if they don`t patent it the other companies will make super amoled screens as well, but this has just been implemanted for the first time so , be patient and enjoy the amoled for now, that is if you have one .

Well it doesnt support MS 2007 Exchange synchronisation as doesnt support the remote encrypriont that is forced by MS Exchange2007 when you try to sync for the first time.

                            Very Big disappointment.

Had the desire for a couple of days and its really a great phone. Internet is really good. The only downside is camera ( photos are not bad and video is crap, but not a big problem for me, heard htc was working on a update for the camera.)and the internal space for apps. Once android fixes that issue it will even be a greater phone.Battery life is as accepted. Have to charge it everyday. But for a phone like this its normal.

i am x10 user but i must say that desires performance is much better..
I regret that i couldn't wait for another week to buy htc's smart phone, because x10 really is a letdown... besides from photocamera and internal memory for apps ( which probably will be fixed in next rom update ) it cannot compare with desire in anyway...
