Gigabyte GSmart S1205 review: A smart duo

17 June 2010
Dual-SIM smartphones are hard to get by. The Gigabyte GSmart S1205 is a fresh addition to that scarce product line, but doesn’t take its unique selling point as a license to empty your wallet. A well built phone, the GSmart is sturdy as...

      Gigabyte GSMART S1205 is the best dual sim available with all the features of a mobile (except 3G and front camera). Its connectivity is super in both the sim. You will not miss any call any where. The sound volume though low is very clear. In disturbed places use headset. It internet connectivity is super (up date the firm ware available in the site) It has back button. It camera 3MP is super with video. It operating system work well with great speed. It is a mini computer which can read edit note, word, excel and read powerpoi nt, pdf etc. You can install many programmes. The GPS is the excellent part of it. You will have accuracy within 5M. The internet connectivity with GPRS is very good. The bluetooth is high speed. You can beam bluetooth stereo to Desktop etc. There is network connectivity. The phone book, calender, call records etc are unlimited. If you need a good dual sim dont wait. Buy this marvellous and beautiful phone with out wasting money on others. Though seems to be costly, I think a dual sim with WIFI, GPS, CAMERA(3MPP), WM65, BLUETOOTH, JAVA, UNLIMITED PHONEBOOK, CONTACT, CALL RECORD, POWER TO EDIT WORD, EXCEL, NOTEPAD, READ PDF, POWERPOINT ETC IS VERY GREAT. I THANK THE GIGABYTE COMPANY FOR MAKING THIS MODEL. NOW THEY HAVE TO MAKE A MODEL WITH MORE MEMORY AND RAM ROM ETC

        Folks,

        I have bought this phone one week ago and... I'm greatly surprised..
        Sure - there're a lot of great phones in the world.. but.. DualSim-Phones are not for everyone...
        The phone is not slow, I never wait for reactions.
        You can choose between four different homescreens - each of them can be changed, so if you miss some "hidden" feature, just put it on the first page. (Task Manager)..
        Of course you can buy the SPB Shell-Screen, but currently I do not see the need for it.

        No 3G - OK - but... Using the Opera Mini with EDGE does not let you wait too long.

        Currently I do not have real No-Go's for this phone...
        My previous phone (DualSim - SGH-D880) - so far I keep it switched off..

        Best Regards,

        Adamski

                      They've got the aesthetic aspect down correctly alright but:-

                      Main disadvantages
                      * Low-end display resolution
                      * Poor sunlight legibility
                      * Smudge-prone screen surface
                      * No 3G connectivity
                      * No Back button
                      * Task manager buried deep in the Settings menu

                      And those are on top of the fact that it's a WinMo 6.5 phone, currently the MS smartphone OS version >still< with debatable long term future,lack of cam flash and probably similar processing power to Nokia's 5800.

                      Maybe Gigabyte is angling for price points but yeah even so this is a piss poor attempt.The 5800 even if with its shall we say quirky Symbian S60 5th are a whole lot better deal AND on Asian side of things should be cheaper than this by the time it hits the shore.Gigabyte should have finished their homework.

                          I love it, I'm considering to but one from eBay.

                          I have been finding for a dual SIM smartphone (no matter Winmo or Android or Symbian, but not propietary OS like Samsung B5722 or LG GX500).

                          GSmart 1205 is newer, cheaper, and more beautiful than DX900.
                          Thanks for reviewing.

                            this phone is based on the media tek chips (processor - other features chips)
                            - media tek is the manufacturer of the chips used in traditional chinese crap phones (NokLA - Wak-man - etc..)

                            -the vast majority of the touch screen phones from samsung - htc use the american Qualcom chip sets instead of this poor unreliable chips

                              Please Gigabyte, leave the smartphone segment to the biggies such as the HTC...you're embarrassing yourself.

                                    What's the use in 2010 of releasing a phone with the smartphone specsheet of 2006 and design of Samsung touchphones 2007? And how did they manage to make almost 14 mm thick with virtually nothing under the hood? The only poitive i can see in this phone is the dual sim and if the prize is below 100 Euros unlocked.
