Apple iPhone 4 review: Love it or hate it

01 July 2010
You can't make a phone that everyone loves and Apple is not even trying. Much like any other iPhone so far, the iPhone 4 is a phone that everybody loves AND hates. Apple’s latest is always the greatest – you have to give them that...

Anonymous, 02 Jul 2010the BIG truth is that nothing can match the APPLE appstore ... moreOh you mean how Apple charge you an arm and a leg for Apps that other phones already have for free when you buy it? Or how 99.9% of all Symbian and WinMo apps are legally free on hundreds of dedicated websites?

You think Apple sells apps? Just Because Symbian apps are legally free doesn't mean people don't use them. Appstore reached 1 billion download.. What they don't tell you that there 17 billion Symbian apps downloaded every year, for free.

There are 1.8 billion Nokia users in the world, do the math.

If you call not having a open source OS and lock down everything so you have to pay for your fart, a good customer support, then i feel sorry for you.
          There are 1.8 billi

So far every review I've read, even knowing the iPhone 4's reception issues and various well documented omissions in both it' os and hardware... they all seem to like it! They might make observations about things they don't like or see as a failings but they all seem to enjoy the experiance. The main issue for most, is it worth the price. There in is the beauty of the free market. If you don't like what Apple has to offer or think it's not worth the asking price don't buy it! Apple is not holding any one to ransome, the choice is yours. At the end of the day Apple only entered this marlet three years ago and offered what it thought would be a cool phone and in so doing changed the whole phone market (for the better IMO). But there lots of worthy alternitives now so why the passion? I just don't get it.

You guys should have tested & compared the iPhone 4's ability to find a WiFi signal. In my experience with my iPhone 2G compared to my friend's Nokia 5800 XpressMusic the Nokia clearly has the edge on finding hotspots. I remember reading an article stating that it was the fact that the iPhone 2G had an aluminum rear that degraded the signal. I did find that the iPhone 3G & 3GS was improved & would have liked to see how much better or worse the iPhone 4 performs with its new glass backing & antenna system.

Why does everyone insist on checking apple related stuff when clearly all you have to say is narrow minded nonsense?

You all sit there saying it doesn't have this and that...who cares...no one...

If apple were that bothered with missing features leading to lower sales then they would do something about it.

Seems alot of people here miss the whole point of the iphone. It's not meant to be the be all and end all of mobile phones. No one is saying its the best phone in the market...everyone has their own taste and make a decision based on their needs...not everyone needs a FM radio, sd card slot, etc etc...

I dont see why there are so many haters...if you don't like it then don't read it...to be honest you lot constantly trying to step on the iphone probably draws even more attention to it.

A tiny 3.5 inch screen on a new full touch flagship device in 2010?! God lord... The more i read the review.. the more i am realising that Apple is nothing more than a cult where people use what they are told to use.

Looking at the specsheet, give me one good reason why a unlocked Iphone 4 cost around 800 Euros and not around 300 Euros? And give me the same reason why Samsung Galaxy S and HTC HD2 can be brought for half that price with twice the capibility.

My girlfriend's 35 Euro phone has FM radio. In Apple products, not even 740 Euros suffice to have this. Ridiculous.

And before someone quotes sales figures: don't be a nerd. It is not your company. Why should you care how much they sell? You have 740 Euros less in your account, tough.

Anonymous, 02 Jul 2010Hang on, i thought iphone owners were the ones spoon fed? ... moreHey that's just people moving from 3g to 4 not 3gs those in contract will wait for 5. Look the fact of the matter is iphone came out before android and will definitely have more apps but don't forget that apps is not all that makes a phone. Functionality is my main issue with iphone. The reason I say this is that iphone gives you less for your money while android gives you more for your money. I have more variety of phones to choose from and lets be honest how many apps does one need. Besides I can side load if I want instead of locked to getting one from the store especially if I don't want to pay for it.

The iphone is good for what it's for(lazy, naive people that like been told what's good for them). The sad part is in the end who will win. Apple has to remember what happened btw the 80s and 90s. People will get tired and want more eventually. I believe that is already showing or else you wouldn't see the influx of android
