Love it or Hate it the iPhone is still the most talked about phone in the world!
I have an iPhone4 and have been lucky enough to not have any signal problems, Apple are very clever because they have created an app world that is easy money for developers and as a result there are apps i use everyday that are avalible on android, simbian, windows mobile, meemo or bada. Also the build quality is second to non, i love the samsung galaxy s but my god its like a toy phone in build quality its great is your a cheap plastic fan! Its annoying that carriers around the world are not allowing the iphone4 to make facetime calls over 3G (because they will loss revenue) but apple are working on that!
So the iPhone4 is in no way perfect but i still think its the right option for the majority and for those it is not they have android! we are all quite lucky to have they options we do :)

Bought one in Australia on launch day, no reception issues or proximity sensor issues. Covering the "Grip of Death" zone results in a maximum loss of 3 bars from full and sometimes the bars even go back up while still covering the left corner slit. Cannot make a call drop from covering the area. Letting go does bring the reception back to full bars. The proximity sensor is flawless, works just as it should, doesn't play up like the video gsmarena made. I don't know if they modified the design "silently" or something but they must have done something to the later phones. Too my suprise upon purchase, this phone is flawless, well at least in Australia it is.

Roger Johnson, 16 Jul 2010As for the US tech blogs, sorry, but they simply don’t have... moreUS has always had an old technology compared to other countries and US market is just a brainwash market.
Americans can buy anything just because they follow the advertising instead of the good sense....
How it is possible to spend money buying a phone that has a such huge problem of reception?... I mean there are several scientific tests that prove it and people don't care...
It is phone.. it needs to call... if it doesn't work properly throw it away and buy an ipod...forless
By the way... AT&T and Apple are perfect together, I have been using AT&T for 4 years and I have always problems with this provider. But there is no alternative since I need a phone that uses a SIM Card... T-mobile is not enough...
Apple is convinced that they invented the videocall and I head people in America describe the iphone like the evolution for that reason. Probably because the only ad that you can see in the TV refers to the videocall.
Guys wake-up!!! the video call was invented more than 10 years ago. In Europe people videocall between different phones and not only Iphones....with no problems...

You guys are funny ... The reception issue has blown out of proportion ... I have personally have a line on all 4 major providers and everyone has their pros and cons ...performance and reception-wise, verizon and AT&T lead the pack but why would one go for verizon when it uses the archaic cdma network, once a call is active, data traffic is stopped completely until the call is over, that is so 90's ... AT&T needs to keep up with their network or all sh*t hits the fan ... Verizon is ditching cdma because they've realized the GSM is the way to go, just like what their mother company Vodaphone uses ...
Regarding the iPhone, this bullish*t about reception are for whiners and if you don't like the form factor then don't use it ... I have the blackberry storm 2 and bold as well the iPhone and an android phone and I say that blackberry's are for stiff's and suits
Most of the users don't even use the enterprise functions of devices, that is why you don't really see the power of these devices.... My suggestion is understand first what wireless synchronization really is and you'll see the power of these devices ... If you guys don't use these functions, stay away from these devices. Too much tech for you need and COMPREHEND.

Hahaha I LOVE reading all these comments. It beats a good book any day. Apple is really onto something. I have never seen any other product launches in the world that attracts so much attention. If Samsung launches a new Omnisomni Turbo XXL2 Extreme phone, probably most people won't even notice. Amazing!

All you people buying Iphones keep it up. Help keep he Verizon networks free. I haven't had a single issue or dropped call on my Incredible. I like not being in Apple prison.
I think there is something flawed in AT&Ts towers/technology. I had them for years and dropped calls with every phone I had.

Ha ha.. free case.. look how high end your iphone is. With all the money they have ammased by stealing/copying/reverse engineering technology and still managing to stay as outdated as ever, they are giving away free cases !! What the **** !! This issue deserved a recall and a hard fix like realigning the antenna but they were dumb enough to make it a single piece body ( again for the 3rd time ). Else they could have managed to just change the back cover with a neat plastic one.

I have an iphone 4, will never buy another one, perhaps an apple product, as well. I live an hour away from an apple store. Got my phone from AT&T (preordered). There were no cases in their store at launch day, so I had to get mine at best buy. So, my options in the case program is get another case or return my iphone. The only reason I don't return it is all the money I sunk in accessories. Factor in the no sim errors I get 15 times a day (already tried all fixes outside of placing tape on my sim tray), and you can see why my next phone won't be an iphone.

Roger Johnson, 16 Jul 2010As for the US tech blogs, sorry, but they simply don’t have... more@ Rogers Johnson - well the N8 has 1/3 the performance of a samsung galaxy S - so can you tell me why anyone would purchase a phone with specs from 6 months ago > the best phone on the market running android?

Well somebody, pleeeeeease tell me what the fuss all about these phones is... I mean seriously, when iPhone 1 came out, damn, it didn't even have 3g, had a crappy camera, everything was shit, well the screen was good looking, but other than that it was terrible from the features, 2 mp camera? no 3g? Is that a joke? But people bought it like there was some kind of spell cast on them? Is it the magical apple that makes people buy it? Hmm I've heard it was all simple and fun to use, is that it? Is that all a good phone needs? Well Yeah I have to admit, the iPhone 3gs and iPhone 4 are not as bad as their ancestors, but still missing some major things like multitasking? Oh come on, an app gets paused in the background? No Video calls? Oh, yes, they work, between iPhones, through WI-FI - lol. ;D And things like "You will finally be able to make a playlist straight through your phone" - wow, cool, but even the most pittyful phones could do that... I'm glad this time they made a major screw up with their reception issues, maybe they will finally get the popularity off, even though according to how it was bought for no reason ever since the beginning, I would expect the same apple-lovers go on buying them. But people there are plenty of better phones, just look around... The iPhone sucks badly, but it seems to be enough for it's fans and all you'll probably hear now are iPhone fans running and screaming "Wooow, how awesome, I can create my playlist right on my iPhone!"...

"Apple’s latest is always the greatest" If it was the greatest we'd still be at #1. Fix known bugs and add a feature or two for each release, and you have a recipe to line Steve's pockets. iPhone 10 is probably already on paper and many will happily buy 5-9 on the way.

I love my iPhone 4, and i can't wait for the jailbreak to come out so i can use my globe sim... but i need to manually cut the sim card first which i did with a sun cell sim card and it was a success... all i need to do is to have it jailbroken and unlocked... i can't wait!!!!

As for the US tech blogs, sorry, but they simply don’t have a clue what they are talking about. The US tech media is well known globally for being ignorant about mobile generally – they live in such an insular, inward looking world, and are highly defensive and protective about home-grown technology (Android, iPhone).
The truth is the N8 makes current and rumoured iPhone and Android devices look like over-priced toys. The truth hurts – it hurts Android and iPhone fans, and it hurts US tech blogs who love their home-grown tech. So they slag off and do down non US tech. I’ve seen it lots before. Luckily the US is actually not a very important mobile market at all, only about 8% of world’s mobile users live there. So I think we can live with the US, loud and proud as they are, not appreciating Nokia technology. It’s their loss.

4 generations later and still no haptic screen feedback. Lulz. Pathetic. Even the oldest resistive touchscreens from Nokia and Samsung have it, and it's the most important feature for a phone that has no hardware keyboard or hard buttons. Apparently, Apple fanb0is can't operate an electronic device with more than one hardware button, it is too hard for them. HypePhones are still a solution looking for a problem.

Is it that Apple's programmers are not able to make file transfer via bluetooth possible? Or is it Steve Jobs' own obstinacy that's killing the iphone? Why make a great product and limit basic current cellphone functionality such as bluetooth file transfer unavailable?
