I cannot get around understanding how far off you reviewers are from the real world.You guys just about play with the device for a day or 2 when its fresh of a factory reset and do your reviews.That seriously sucks!Im a Galaxy S owner for about 2 months now, and none of its serious highlights or shocking drawbacks are mentioned in your review.Following can be considered a genuine owners user experience.
2010 Samsung Galaxy S (Latest JG5 firmware)
++
. Gorgeous SAMOLED screen
. Good In-Hand feel inspite of all plastic construction
. Packaged ThinkFreeOffice is simply brilliant and could be the best office app on a mobile ever
. Good game graphics easily better than the Nexus One and Desire
. Good Battery performance
. Excellent video playback

. Very Poor RAM management
. Misleading buyers claiming 512MB RAM, Phone has 312MB RAM only
. Phone left with only 45 - 60MB of RAM after 10 minutes of use,just about the same as the iPhone 3G
. System wide cut&past very poorly implemented
. Disastrous Email app with no push nor Cut&Paste
. Phone lags even without live wallpapers and widgets
. Noticeably slower than Desire also on 2.1
. Lag on keyboard while typing fast(Smart keyboard too)
. Music player landscape mode lags a lot and hence not usable
As you can see most of the good points about the Samsung Galaxy S are to do with the Screen and most of the drawbacks are due to poor RAM size and subsequent management and a still immature and inconsistent android operating system.If anybody has any doubts regarding the authenticity of this report head over to www.samsunggalaxysforums.com to see hundreds of owners complain about the exact same issues.

I dont have both. How about customizable? Samsung can win iOS4 easily with only Eclair. Froyo sure make the margin even greater~ and how about Gingerbread? Lol~

iPhone is limited while Android OS phones are open source...you have to convert your videos for iPhone while some phones don't and support Divx...transferring WMA format songs to iPhone is a fuse as you have to convert it to AAC format while other phones don't....iPhone depending on iTune software to transfer files while other phones can simply drag & drop...there are so many advantage and disadvantage...and i own a galaxy S...the battery will last long if you dont use your phone much...i prefer phones that give me conveniences via any connectivity than a phone that give me troublsome connectivity even for a simple job...now...you decide what best for you... =)

It is clear that GALAXY S is more better than Iphone4.
I am waiting for Samsung pmp introducing which kill ipod too.

I am writing this comment on my BlackBerry curve. BlackBerry is superior to all smart phones in the world. But if I have to choose between the Iphone or Galaxy, I would say it is a difficult choice, but I think Android is better than Apple now.

SAM , 07 Aug 2010I think in this war both are the winners. Choose iPHONE if ... moreno galaxy s is the gaming phone. better graphic card and larger screen so the controlls are easier to maintain. if you have an iphone you kniw what i mean with 3.5 inch is a little small for gaming.

i dont know why everybody says its biased towards samsung because gsmarena has been biased towards apple in every iphone news article and nobody complaint there.
yes a few complaint but they were so called poor people who couldnt affort a iphone or nokia fanboys or whatever.
people i even think its shit but its the damn truth, galaxy s is just a better phone and they were pretty right with this article. music player by samsung(note: its not the same as on other android phones but exclusive for samsung phones) is more advanced, even though you wouldnt expect it. screen is better, not even a doubt. the sound qualty is about the same, nothing spectaculair on both. ipods are known for bad sound quality and iphone is no diffrent.

The article is only a guide for phone buyers. It is still up to you to decide. It's hard to buy phone without any opinion from those who use or have tested the phone. Thanks for the comparison, now I know what to buy!

Very good review GSMArena, and an unbiased one in my opinion. I waited for a good and professional made comparison between Samsung Galaxy S and Iphone 4 for a long time, most important i wanted a comparison between the S Amoled and retina display , and my thoughts were confirmed: although retina display is top notch lcd screen,S amoled is slightly better.

[deleted post]i dont know if your aware that x10mini is the worst android phone you could get. its so incredibly stupid to compare it to galaxy s, ofcourse iphone 4 is better than x10mini. its the same as my saying iphone sucks because i own iphone 1 and my galaxy s is way better. in fact the screen on iphone 4 is a bad screen. its tft wich is bad technology for a lot of reasons and super amoled is super technology, it also looks so much better. besides that its bigger and uses less power. also the resolution isnt that much higher than sgs resolution. yea its 3 times 3gs's res but that says nothing simply cuz this is not a freaking 3gs. text isnt way more readable on iphone 4 bcuz the screen is way smaller. believe me, i own a lot of phones and i own both sgs and iphone 4. only reason i use iphone is cuz of its looks. other than that its just not as fun/good as sgs.
