M.j, 06 Aug 2010Was finding this an interesting review, until i realized tha... moreExcept of course you have the HTC Desire which uses plain AMOLED and this is the Galaxy S which uses SUPER-AMOLED - which has far better sunlight visibility-WHICH IS THE WHOLE POINT OF 'SUPER' AMOLED.
Clearly, you know nothing of these things and are some kind of fanboy in disguise.

"There's no ultimate smartphone out there..."
That's true for now until Nokia N8 hits the shelves and then N9 whooa...seen proto, it's out of this world. Will get them both, N8 for my wife and N9 for myself. Exiting Autumn ahead of us. Sweet.

I'm not a iPhone Fan but i think is a great device. However, the Galaxy S in my opinion is a bit better not just for the specs, where both are really good, the real difference is the relashionship between price-quality product.
When Apple presented the iPhone 4 i thought the iP4 should have been the 3GS.... then it would have been an incredible device...! Now is a great device but not revolutionary like the 2G.
I have a HD2 and now is open the possibilty to have Android... its make to have a great option to revive this great phone. Cos for me, if the developers manage to make it work properly is gonna be the better device with Android like the N1 and Galaxy S.
I don't know if Android is the future but i'm sure of one thing, NOW IS THE PRESENT and make me feel confident about the future of that platform.

If only the Galaxy S had a QWERTY keyboard, I would ditch my old phone for it. Maybe they will come up with a slider version of it later. Right now, the only version with a slider is only CDMA.
Personally, I prefer a larger screen rather than one with higher pixel density. I'm concerned about reading web pages and other info on the screen. It doesn't matter to me if the letters look sharper. What matters is that I can read it and not have to horizontally scroll. The extra .5" of screen appeals to me more than not being able to recognise pixels.
I find the browser comparison interesting. The Galaxy S has the edge on initial loading while the iPhone 4 has the edge on reloading. The times that this matters is if you click on a link and then click back. I know on my existing N97, the default browser is crappy on how it handles going back to a previous page. Opera Mini seems to cache the previous page to make it faster to go back to the previous page. It sounds like the iPhone 4 default browser does something like this. If it is the browser, then installing a better browser can improve performance on either phone.
The lack of a flash on the Galaxy S is interesting. I believe that the camera is able to operate pretty well without the flash. I would have prefer they compare night time or indoor photos here to see how the Galaxy S performs without the flash compared to the iPhone with a flash.
One criticism about the actual article. Why is it that there is a link to the iPhone 4 specs, but no link to the Galaxy S specs. I think that they should put a link to the Compare page of both phones. That way, it is easier for readers to click and see the spec comparisons of both phones. Putting a link only to the iPhone 4 spec page give a perception of bias on this article.

Interesting camera comparison. Much prefer the Samsung, you can add contrast later if you want, but removing it from the iphone is much harder.

WOW after reading the review more thoroughly the Galaxy S RAPED the Iphone 4. Seriously, the Iphone 4 only won about two or three of the rounds. That being said, you cant go wrong with either phone.

Samsung Galaxy S over Apple iPhone 4:-
1. Android 2.1 Éclair, 2.2 Froyo update just around the corner
2. 4” SuperAMOLED display with a 15:9 widescreen aspect ratio
3. Regular SIM card support
4. DivX/XviD video support
5. FM radio with RDS
6. Notably cheaper
7. HIGH PROBABILITY of NOT NEEDING AN INSULATING BUMPER to make, receive and sustain calls = Total win.
8. Higher possibility of multiple carrier choices AND unlocked units.iPhone 4?You're kidding me right?
Apple iPhone 4 over Samsung Galaxy S
1. iOS 4
2. 960 x 460 pixel Retina display
3. Scratch-resistant, high-quality glass panels
4. LED flash
5. Precise movement tracking via a gyro sensor
6. Possibly better batt life.Android as a mobile OS still need to improve on that.
7. Better OS and firmware support guaranteed.Samsung?Well...Samsung Omnia i8910 HD anyone?
Fixed...there I tried to be fair but bang for buck I'd still get the Galaxy S.

Was finding this an interesting review, until i realized that you scored the galaxy s better on the music player and screen , what a joke , the galaxy s is a solid all round phone and one of the best android handsets available , but in no way is the music player better than the iPhone , nothing out there comes close ! fm radio , pensioners listen to that s@*t , and the galaxy s is like a fisher price toy when it comes to build quality, and amoled is nothing special (yet) I have a htc desire and sunlight ledgability is piss poor , if you want a premium handset get an iPhone if you want a Jack of all trades ,master of none, get android , enough said !

Galaxy S is one of the best phones ever made. Same with the Iphone 4 if I had my own choice though id go with the Galaxy S however. That 4" screen is orgasmic.

iPhone would be 'one hell of a phone' if those recommended apps in the AppStore would be just a default in 'the iPhone'. Apps, like for example; FileMakerGo.
