Does this phone have notification beeps or the like? Like when you have unread messages or missed calls and you did not notice it, will it beep to inform you about the missed call or unread message? How will we do it if it does support the same? Thank you!

Galaxy 5 is no doubt a good phone at such a price, Rs 9,100/-.. But its really disappointing:
1. The buttons below the screen do not have backlight- i.e. call, end, options, home, search, centre selection buttons.
2. Battery heats up a bit while using gprs, gps, charging.. but not too much. So its not a serious problem..
3. 2MP camera could b replaced by 3.2.
Impressive features are:
1. Mind blowing capacitive touch screen..
2. No flash required at night.. I dont know if its due to Android or something else, but pics at night are very nice..
3. No lagging in touch screen..

Bala, 15 Oct 2010Hi,
Thats a very nice write up. Thanks for the response... morehey
the choice between galaxy 5 and nokia c5-03 is quite tough. but i have tried my hands at both resistive symbian and capacitive android. and i know for sure that the capacitive android is way better than resistive symbian.
the camera on c5 is obviously better my a long shot as the galaxy is just 2 and lacks a flash.
also if money matters to you id suggest u to take the galaxy as it is completely worth its price to every penny

this phone is awesome for a first android smartphone. bought this a few days back and the touch response blew my mind. and everything about this cell is awesome.
The accelerometer however is a bit slow but cant complain about that because it just has a 600 MHz CPU and is so low priced.
Bottom line don't think twice if you want to buy it.

answering some of the questions asked here:
this phone does not support multi-touch. Although perhaps it will when Froyo is released by end of october 2010 by Samsung.
The 170 mb limit on device will be solved when Froyo is installed since it allows installation of apps and games on sd card.
this phone is amazingly fast. Faster than galaxy 3 for games. Nice display although only 240 x 320 resolution :( mmh who cares.
One more gripe, no LED notification to notify if i have missed calls or incoming sms messages :( You have to install third party applications that repeatedly tells u i have messages. I have installed a freeware and i have set it to vibrate every five minutes until i read my messages.
I bought the white one. I regret it because it's not all white, just the back! now it's a black and white galaxy 5 :p
Radio awesome, speed awesome. I have no problems with battery life. GPS quick fix. Although the gps applications like ndrive and igo is a little but dumb (not many features) when compared to Igo for windows mobile.
This is my first time using android and i must say it's better than windows mobile 6.5. Bye2 winmo :( you silly sonofabitch why do you have to become winmo 7 :( :(( ???
Oh and since the antennae is located at the bottom of the phone sometime phone reception can be considerably reduced when holding the phone at the bottom part. I see two bars can be increased if the phone is turned upside down. So if you are on a location with poor signal and you need to make an important call you can turn upside down like a bat and make phone calls this way.

Sam, 18 Sep 2010Nokia smartphones comes with nHD resolution for half price ... morehey man! Do those Nokia get android?? I own a 5800 and i sure it can't beat android!
At that price, you can't get anything better. corby i5500 will get android 2.1 (and maybe android 2.2 in the near future), that's the point.
