Nokia E6 hands-on: First look

12 April 2011
The E6 is Nokia’s latest business offer and it has just landed in our office. It’s the company’s first smartphone running the new Symbian Anna OS out of the box. The E6 is a touch phone with a QWERTY keyboard and it even has a higher pixel density than the iPhone’s Retina display...

Hello all , still no reply hmmm ... Do Nokia owners and Nokia itself know nothing about battery and battery door interchangeability between Nokia models ? I've submitted this question concerning extended battery XL packages I could use with the e6 on several sites similar to this one as well as several forums and only one unhelpful answer . I've had Windows Mobile , RIM and Android smartphones and for each of these platforms there's a community knowledgeable about battery and battery door interchangability between phone models , but that doesn't seem to be true for Nokias . Anyone know whether I can use any of the BP-4L extended battery doors ( n97 or e7 1 ) with the e6 ?

HrisHi, 23 Jun 2011it will be a failure. Reasons.. 1. Its not a pure business... more Hi Hrishi,

I firmly believe that Nokia is out smarting ALL of todays phone companies by being the last to turn to the latest software/ processors.

In the end, despite your claim of samsung ruling all processors, Nokia hasn't even started to unveil their next generation line of phones. because they're leaving it as an open market blast for all smart phones.

redeamer, 12 Apr 2011nokia's idea still sucks.. why do you need a hardware butto... moresome people are still comfortable with hardware keys. Who knows maybe the design comes from user feedback.

Its great that Nokia has refreshed their Symbian QWERTY phones line up. Glad to see the E series has a successor. Not sure if you get many people buying this phone now that Nokia hass effectively abondoned Symbian unfortunately. However, I am not certain putting a touchscreen size that small will appeal to anyone. Also, it just does not make sense to have touchscreen AND have the Navigation D pad at the same time. What for? I currently own the E5 and it works great. Yes it is outdated but i still love it for the efficiency, the battery life and the easy to type Qwerty keyboard. I see my friends having their iPhone 4 and their Androids. Of course it is fun to have the iPhone 4 and androids. I love playing games on them. But i also see them constantly charging their phones every few hours too!

Hmmm , still no reply ... Does anyone from Nokia actually read these comments ? Plus , does nobody know anything about extended BP-4L batteries for the E6 ? Has no one tried either the N97 or E71 XL extended batteries in either tne E6 or the e72 ? I've confirmed the batteries will work in the e6 , and that the e72 battery door will work in the e73 . Given the similarity betwee the e71 , e72 , e73 , an the e6 battery doors , seems logical that any of the would work in the others . Any information anyone can give me will be muchhh appreciated thanks !

it will be a failure. Reasons..
                1. Its not a pure business phone, if yes why touch screen.
                2. If its a experiment to introduce multimedia with E series then why camera is fixed focus,n why display is very small.
                3. Symbian is out dated. Nobody buys nokia now n all phones are made in china, the quality has gone down.
                4. Nokia phones hit market very lately after the announcement n release.
                5. Samsung boosting in market like anything with latest techs quickly.
                6. Most of existing Nokia users have already exchanged their phones with android OS phones.

there is absolutely nothing wrong with symbian os..its the ui thats the problem.the os is argueably the most efficient with most core functions available.
but the ui is too layered..sometimes u have to go thru too many steps than u actually need for doing some tasks.
simplify the ui, keep the efficiency of the os.

hello i am i nokia fan and very hard i am trying to stey a nokia fan.
If someone from nokia is reading this comment or someone els how is interested read this comment, this are few of my personal dislikes about the phone:
1-it looks like a blackberry(horrible),this phone is for Nokia users not blackberry users am i right?,for exemple the E72 is a Nokia bussines design that nokia user love'd frome the first minut.
2-the capacity touch screen is something kind of strange to use because is very carmpt,if you wanted to make a business phone with + a touchscrrean it might be better for the screen to be bigger.
3-if you want to keep up with android, appel, other sharks on the market kill symbian it's futile to come with "versions" the competition is killing you. Symbian is outdated, not cool and stupid for the year 2011, make a change because your nokia users are leaving.
If you agree or disagree leave a feedback to my comment and gleadlei i will answer.

Hello again , hmmm , no reply . Guess I'll have to experiment , which I didn't want todo for obvious reasons . I'm new to Nokias , but in my extensive smartphone experience , occasionally a battery door from one model will fit another or can be slightly modified to fit another model . It looks like the battery door for the Nokia e71 is very close to the e6 battery door . Does anyone know if the extended n97 or e71 battery doors will fit or can be modified to fit ? Thanks very much in advance !!

Why does gsmarena always claim that Nokia uses fixed-focus? It is not fixed-focus. It is a full-focus. It makes a huge difference. Ficed- focus just takes the shot. Full-focus focuses the whole picture digitally. It focuses the WHOLE PICTURE DICITALLY. It also keeps the videorecording in full time focus. So when you film a video it focuses it all the time. Si it is a very different thing than fixed-focus. So why do they claim it is fixed-foxus when it is not?

I have bought many kind of mobile phones during the past 15 years. The Nokia E71 is indeed the best mobile I've used so far and the most lasting one without failing me. But when I saw the E6 on the internet, I was amazed by the new look and of course, the screen..scratch proof! My Nokia E71's screen is full of scratch marks. That really pissed me off.
