No Android even becomes decent before the 200 Price point. Heck, even the Gio or the Wildfire suck compared to this.

i'd like you to take a look at 2 things:
- can you compare the speed of nokia 500 and n8 (or c601,c7,e7) (6XXMHz vs 1GHz) (for example on web, application start etc)?
- can nokia 500 play all symbian^3, especially 3d games? You can try angry birds, fruitninja, spiderman, shrekkarting etc

well this is how entry level phones from nokia should look like from now on.
they should just keep symbian instead of killing it to make way for windows phone.
wp can stay as high range devices, symbian should be used for low to mid range devices.
kill s40, keep anna and the rest of the girls :)

Keep it up, Nokia!
There's always a Nokia to fit every budget and it's giving Android a good run for its money. This feature packed phone offers a great bang for your buck compared to competing Android phones on the same price range. Nokia is leaving no room for poor Android. They got Android out featured on pretty much every price range.

I still use a Nokia 5233. It has a 434MHz processor with no GPU, but it records VGA videos at 30fps. It still works the way I want it to, but it's missing the eye candy. It feels old now. And I even write my blogs through it as my HP laptop died 2 years ago...man! I wasted $1000 on shitty HP laptop. And then was stuck with a $150 smartphone. But it did its job for over a year and a half unlike my laptop which died a week after the warranty was over. And my parents still think that I destroyed that laptop with Nvidia card that got burned as I played games on it! Can you imagine? They said laptops were not meant for gaming...and even the dealer. Then what was that Nvidia GPU doing in there? For school work? Presentations?
This is the reason that I can't upgrade to a new and better phone, not for 2 more years. All due to ''HP'' and that HP retailer, and the people at repair centre and all those people who said that Nvidia card got roasted as I played games on it! And asked for a new motherboard for $400. I'm really pissed! I hate HP and people...they are the reason for my misery that I do not get gadgets anymore. Not even a chance to give advice to my relatives about a gadget.
Nokia makes best quality handsets.
Sorry for all that! Just got a little bit sentimental!

According to the Nokia twitter account, the Nokia 500 will receive the belle update towards the end of the year.
This phone is a good choice for me. Very budget friendly without compromising too much on the features. My only dilemma is that on almost all of the videos that i've watched that shows this phone, the UI seems to be lagging. Hope the OS in the UI demo found in gsmarena aint the final one.

The nokia 500 only has a 2d graphics accelerator.

GSMArena got the flat menu idea wrong, it is there, Symbian just creates the folder by default, if you want you can take all the apps out of the folders & in the main menu, the empty folders can't be deleted though.

it doesn't make any sense, if the 1GHz processor is there why isn't it on Symbian belle by default ?
