HTC Amaze 4G review: Upping the ante

18 October 2011
HTC Amaze 4G is joining the über-smartphone ranks in the United States at a time, when the competition has reached its peak. The device is part of the first wave of smartphones, capable of reaching 42Mbps on T-Mobile’s HSDPA network...

I can NOT wait to see how well this phone performs on the all the benchmarks once HTC puts their (2)Sense on Ice Cream Sandwich and updates this bad boy with them! Such powerful hardware and high screen resolution makes battery life one of my primary concerns with the Amaze, but these updates should improve that as well.
The only other "disadvantages" include: the MicroSD slot being under the cover, but still hotswappable; the smaller, higher resolution screen not "on par" simply because it isn't Samsung's SuperAMOLED Plus; its weight, which seems well worth it for the superior materials used in its build quality; and finally its lack of headphones, which is most likely due to the fact that HTC's Sensation XE comes with some of the best headphones for free.
If these are the only "drawbacks" then sign me up! This already awesome phone will surely be (one of) the best on the market, especially when aforementioned software changes are applied. Exciting times ahead for HTC Amaze owners!

Nokia easily could bring HCT to court for copying C7/701 design.

I don't think gsmarena has ever given due value to HTC products. Sense 3.0+ is light years ahead of the customizations available on other phones. Samsung UI is downright ugly, so is LGs. Also simple customizations such as the phone dialer is more intuitive than any other competitor and same goes for its on-screen keyboard. How is it that none of this is ever mentioned in any of your reviews. Lastly, nobody makes phones as beautiful as HTC. Their build quality is unparalleled. Their unibody designs are as strong as horses. These are as important as the underlying hardware.

The Amaze 4G is easily the best looking handset out there right now that appeals to both sex.

Has the death grip issue from the Sensation been minimized in this similar HTC phone?

Good review, but there is one thing that is wrong! I mean about the sound quality on SGS2. After the update to 2.3.4 now my SGS2 records the sound in movies at 44.100 kHz !!!!

HTC/T-mobile-USA don't have a lot of language support on there devices like Arabic and Hebrew and Farsi which I can speak read and write .... they don't have the foresight to add RTL languages to there devices which is going to add a couple of million people who read speak and write those languages to there benefit ... learn from Att Wireless !

Thanks GSMArena for the fantastic review of this Amazing (pun intended) phone! I've been waiting to hear your opinions after reading so many others...
I am definitely getting this phone. It seems the only "drawbacks" are the fact that it's not a Galaxy S II. I prefer the higher resolution and smaller screen, even if it isn't SuperAMOLED Plus. Also, the greater weight seems well worth the build quality.
I wonder how soon the DreBeats software on the XE will be ported to this beauty? Then, in my opinion, this would certainly be in the running for greatest phone available! HTC FTW!
