HTC Radar review: Mango on the radar

30 November 2011
The HTC Radar is the smaller, less expensive, less powerful and - overall - less exaggerated version of the Titan. Now, turn that around and the Radar will be the sensible, down-to-earth and friendlier phone of the two. It will be up to users to decide...

I am using htc radar .. Its very good indeed. Windows interface is definitely a stylish one as compared to android and iphone. I prefer htc on nokia bcoz i m not much satisfied from nokia's touch quality. One thing microsoft doesn't allow google maps, and no turn by turn navigation. Otherwise it is superb!!

AnonD-252, 01 Dec 2011So all HTC, and Samsung, need to do is paint their phones b... moreLOL

That's not quite what I had in mind - but actually, it's a start! I don't think a bit of colour on a mobile hurts! Grey is not the new black, it's just plain boring!

No, I think it's going to take more than a colour change to gain advantage - BUT - you've got to admit, sharp edges or not the 'look' of the N9 / Lumia 800 is very distinctive, it's eye-catching, yes it's still a sharp rectangle - but no doubting, it LOOKS the part - completely different to the competition - certainly Windows phone competition...

If I were buying a WM7 phone (I wouldn't) but I'd instantly go for Nokia just because it 'looks' different (and specs-wise all Win7 handsets much of a muchness due to stupid M$ restrictions)

And this is what I mean - look at the SonyE Arc - quite a distinctive and very good looking phone (I assume it's named that because the specs are from biblical times - haha!) no, but seriously - if it weren't for seriously outdated specs it'd definitely do better..

This is what HTC / Sammy / LG / etc. all need to do - start creating differing 'images' - a premium range that can match iphone looks for their flagships - that look completely different to their mid-range phones and of course completely different styling between Win7 phones and Android ones...

Until then... it's all grey and black blandsets...

Every WP7 from HTC and Samsung... can install the "hacked" Nokia Drive...!
Lumia and N9 are blue, but they have too sharp 4 corners that feel very uncomfortable/painful when holding them in the hand! Nokia "design" is actually rather bad, but it is "blue"!

Is it a wildfire? Is it a desire?
What it is is another grey, indistinguishable phone from HTC...
What I don't understand (and this goes for Sammy too) - why are they making Windows phones look identical to Android ones?
There is a CLEAR opportunity to radically make these ranges different, to really stand out, one screaming 'I'm Windows buy ME' - the other 'Android over here!' - but no, it's bland rectangle after rectangle (from both HTC and Sammy...)
And this is why Nokia (I'm not a fanboy, I have a GS2) could wipe the floor with the competition re: Windows... you KNOW Nokia now means Windows you can see their brightly coloured, funky phones... you know exactly what you're getting a making a statement with it...
When you pick up an HTC, it could be any one of a range of blandsets...
                                :(
At this rate 2012 is going to be another boring design year...

Dead plaftorm? Rubbish. Handphones lifetime is 2 yrs in average. During this time many things may happened.
Personally I really enjoy my Radar with Mango. Clear concept, highly organized. Try it first, than complain.

Anonymous, 30 Nov 2011no one buys windows phone its a dead platformwhy so much hate?, if it succeed let it be and if it failed then let it be, it's not your money anyway and your welfare is not somehow directly related to WP7 existence,

it seems a lot of people just want to be bully in some stage, what are you in real life? cowards? timids?

GSMarena had become a haven of non-sense critics, and for sure they don't own a single WP7 device and just pretending it to be, :)

But seriously, with Nokia's 710 and 800 getting the spotlight, this phone isn't gonna be on anybody's radar.
