Nokia Lumia 800 review: New beginnings

This is my opinion, I always will love my n900..It was a step in the right direction.. Than this Nokia/Microsoft deal happened, than dropping maemo and meego.. for Windows… I will give Nokia/Microsoft venture a chance, as in life everybody deserves a chance. Change happens, but the change was so drastic and so fast that it caught people off guard.
Too be honest I do not like the 800… The screen should be at least 4 to 4.3"… 3.7" is old, since most high end or flagship phones are at that range of 4" or more. Since the N8 is a 12mp, why not all NEW Nokia phones have 12mp OR how about just the high end models? It is a step backward to an 8mp…Or is it cheaper? Since the N8 battery is Non-user-replaceable battery than it seems that is the way that Nokia will go… Another backward step.. I like the fact that I can change my battery without the service charge or shipping my phone. Why no memory card slot? Granted if the 800 came with a 64GB version… Why a microSIM card slot? Most people still use the regular sim cards unless you have an iphone… Granted some of the disadvantages can be fixed with software updates, but the hardware should be comparable to those of other flagship phones on the market. Again this is just my opinion and thinking should I stay with Nokia or leave?

Just with regards to the mass storage issue. People seem to forget these handsets come with 25gb of online storage with skydrive, which can be accessed any time anywhere- wireless. Why would you need to plug your phone in for that?

I'm not impressed. Maybe for all those who want "smoothness" in a dummy-proof package it's a decent phone, but I'd rather use Symbian or Android for all the features and capabilities they offer. The lack of text reflow is inexcusable in this day, considering Symbian has had it for years. If Windows tries to imitate the iphone, I'll scratch them off my list.

With regard to audio quality, there are faulty devices. I replaced my first Lumia 800 which exhibited the flaw you saw in your test. The replacement unit is fine, fortunately.

Too sad that Nokia couldn't get the audio quality right with this one...
It appears that N8 will still remain the Music+Camera king, as far as details, megapixels & earphone audio quality is concerned..
What will this phone do in front of competition like Galaxy SII and iPhone 4S?...

I will suggest Nokia to switch their software platform from Symbian & WP to Android, otherwise survival is difficult.

I read the review, guys, and did not like it... GsmArena did not take int consideration the brand fame that Nokia has. I am sure that this phone will be a great hit. I will buy it too. Because i need a phone to make calls, make some basic photos, check my emails and have a battery that lasts long and do some basic stuff on the phone. And Nokia has the best call quality over there. Maybe the OS is not so good, but the reception on these units is fantastic! It has special microphone to ensure that the other person hears you, the design is solid and it won't break into a million pieces when you drop it down (every phone falls down at least once - think about that, Apple). It is a winner for me. I do not intend to do overclocking, programming or draw on my touchscreen - i need something that works, and this one seems a winner for me!

really no flash in browser?? come on out of all the things they couldn't put something simple like that in their phone. they are going down hill big time at least they can do is come out with a phone that can compete with the rest of the competition.. And they wonder why they lost half their shares hmmmmm i cant see them doing business for the next years to come
