Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 preview: First look

05 March 2012
The 10-inch form factor is the corridors of power in tablet terms, but the ones that won't turn your wallet inside out are hard to come by. In the Galaxy Tab 2 10.1, Samsung seem to have a reasonably-spec'd Android tablet, which might be the answer to that...

      Quote from Spaceport:
"Spaceport, a company that provides tools for developers to create multiplatform mobile games, revealed in a study that Apple's iPad is about four times better at handling HTML5 in the browser than competing Android-based tablets. On the smartphone side, the average iPhone performance almost triples that of Android-based handsets.
In order to arrive at those figures, Spaceport examined the maximum number of images that could be smoothly pushed through HTML5 in mobile browsers. The best Android tablet, which Spaceport did not reveal, was able to smoothly translate less than 100 images at 30 frames per second. Apple's iPad 2, on the other hand, smoothly translated more than 300 images at 30 frames per second.
The worst-performing iPhone model currently available, the 3GS, was able to handle 50 moving objects at that frame rate, while the worst Android handset, the Motorola Droid 2, couldn't handle a "single moving object on the screen across all possible animation techniques", Spaceport found."

Rubbish. Might as well get a Kindle Fire. How about thinner, lighter, AMOLED full HD screen and a 1.5+ GHz cpu. Which is pretty much the opposite of the Tab 2 specs. Just having ICS 4.0 isn't enough to justify an upgrade. Disappointing!

I would buy Sony Tablet S instead. It's way better.

How come NO ONE knows what SoC is in this tablet?!

GSMArena, why not just tell us which one it is? A GLBenchmark run would suffice.
