The Wave Y budget smartphone from Samsung features the ever familiar Andr…wait- what you mean, it's not Android? But it looks exactly like Android! Well, it seems things just took a more interesting turn. The Samsung Wave Y runs the latest Bada OS.

For those who are saying that samsung is copying Android and made BADA, you should research more. BADA 2.0 is virtually identical with Android is because of the UI made by Samsung which they use in Android and in BADA. If not because of Samsung's UI, Android will also look different.

And for those who said that Samsung is bad in releasing update for BADA, I strongly don't believe it. I've been using BADA for a long time and I got no problem with updates. If ever a new update is available, my phone will automatically update once I open Samsung Apps.

And Wave phones are very durable. I got no problem with my phone which I've been using for about a year now. And the best thing with Wave is its battery. No offence, but BADA is more energy saving compared to Android.

Among all the brands I've used, Samsung is the best and most durable.

Anonymous, 06 Mar 2012There's no excuse for such poor video-recording on this pho... moreExactly, a phone like Nokia E51 with 369 MHz can do QVGA @ 15fps, and this Wave thing has 832 MHz for the same resolution and framerate.

I was in love with my wave 1 since i had bought it, but now i hate samsung. Waiting for more than 5 months for bada 2.0, surviving without google maps(as it needs bada 2.0), without any messenger app(chaton is available only for bada 2.0).....and having bought a smartphone my phone cant even do things which their samsung champ can do. Samsung trust me, i am never going to buy any of your phone and i will convince anybody who is going to buy your phone not to buy. Hate you

There's no excuse for such poor video-recording on this phone, when the extremely outdated and low-end Nokia 5230 had VGA video-recording at 30 FPS.

Dont purchase this phone you will rue the fact that samsung is in efficient when it comes to upgrades just ask or rather see the comments from fellow wave users, it takes them ages to roll out upgrades they do not worry about customer service or satisfaction for that matter they just churn out mobile after mobile and do not concentrate on their operating software as a company samsung SUCKS

If u haven't tried any smartphone till date, waves will be good. Else, dive into a "wave", n u are all set to "sink". Bada sucks big time.

First things first... there is NO Samsung Galaxy Wave III. Maybe you guy are to focused on promoting the Galaxy lineup in your articles. There is indeed a Samsung Wave III.

For other guys who haven't tried the Wave lineup, you should know that the Waves are divided in two categories: Wave 1, 2 and 3 - which are smartphones, and the other waves, like the Y for example, which are just some slightly improved featurephones. Which can be cool also, because not everyone needs a smartphone.

But to reply to the ones who wrote that Wave phones suck... my dear, have you ever held in your hand a Wave 3? Sure, the OS is not even close to Android, but the design, the build quality, the materials, the form factor... it trashes any Galaxy phone out there.

Pity that Samsung haven't made phones like that running Android.

I think the Problem with the Bada OS. Samsung should closely focus on smartphone with Android to compete with the market.

"The super mini beats the Wave Y on almost all levels and is ready to match the price too."
How? Mini 2X costlier than Wave Y. Also Bada is mature but not so mature to be called a smartphone. The last line says it all perfectly.
