Pantech Burst review: LTE on a budget

21 March 2012
The Pantech Burst is the first budget oriented Android smartphone to hit AT&T’s newly launched LTE network. Interestingly enough however, the fifty-dollar handset shares the exact same CPU and chipset as the top dogs in the carrier’s 4G lineup. Throw a 4" sAMOLED...

I know this article is a year old but I just bought one of these used online for $80 w/ shipping & taxes included. I am not a gadget person but I do work as a network engineer/sysadmin. I never truly understood the people who go on and on about high end phones. This device has opened my eyes & yes I know it is probably considered low range by now. I had a galaxy captivate with a previous job so I'm not a complete gadget hermit. For $80 used this device is outstanding & you can get it brand new w/o a contract for ~$130.. If it had a rj45 jack I'd be in heaven & that could be possible ;). I honestly don't think I've used a laptop that would outrun this lately. It is odd to have a phone that is pretty much waiting for pics to load just b/c of the bandwidth rather than the CPU struggling. Keep in mind I don't spend > $300 on a phone so I'm sure people with brand new octacore Samsungs arent impressed. I can honesty say I never expected this phone to be so good. I've never spent $80 better. If you are like me and can't afford a $700 phone due to the Job market in your area OR you just don't spend money like that then I would definitely buy this phone online. The price is amazing and you get pretty much most of the features out there. It would be perfect for the kids as well. I have yet to make this phone lag or do anything but run along without a hitch. Pantech won a supporter in me.

Hey all. I'm thinking to get the Pantech Burst. I like its specifications. I saw some reviews and found it pretty interesting. But, the problem due to what I haven't bought it are some of its issues. Does it get overheat while charging or while using normally? Are you all able to use USB Tether and Wifi Hotspot? And please do explain me Wifi issues and problems as I use Wifi and not mobile internet. Please help me. Thanks

1650mAh battery...If I use this on web browsing or a music play, I have to charge this everyday, seems awkward for a phone.

Android OS is a battery sucker.
