AnonD-53669, 06 May 2012I was planning to pick this phone up; like many waited till... moreTharunv. XPS comes with pre-installed screen protector. If there was some scratches then it was on the screen protector NOT ON THE SCREEN! :-)

Using this phone were totaly bring me a huge smile. The capative keys sometimes had slow respons but now iam ok with it. The screen so nice and sharp. The battery can stay up to 5-7 hours( can charge inside my car or in my office). The sound ok and i dont expect can hear it 500 meter away. The camera really impressive me a lot. Even its just duo core but not that lagging like other mention before. Ram usage seem good never reach 80% usage even when i play high hd games.

I was planning to pick this phone up; like many waited till One X was launched and S3 announced... however decided to not go for Xperia s for the following reasons-
Screen protection not good... No Gorilla glass- Although there is some sort of protection this does not compare to gorilla glas... went to the showroom (Universal, India) where one of them owned an Xperia S... so I tried his phone; unmistakably there were minor finger scratches on the phone that is less than 1 week old.. even more were found on the demo handset. Upon close inspection of Moto Razr & Galaxy note demo handsets which were on display for much longer didnt have even slight marks on their screen...
I am not soft at handling mobiles and need something sturdy; given the quality of screen protection I have decided against it...

I was tempted when this phone first came out. But wanted to wait for htc one x and galaxy iii s to compare before deciding. Now that I hv seen both, I may still get this, since it is s$150 cheaper. But think I will still wait for the ics upgrade before deciding. I think it is a wonderful time to be a consumer of smartphones. Fierce competition forces improvement. We are spoilt for choice! And fierce competition in telcos means nice subsidies. If I trade in my 15 mth old arc, I can get the Sxs for free! 4x more memory, much better screen, faster processor, 12 gb camera. Only pity it will no longer fit the mont blanc cover!

AnonD-52670, 30 Apr 2012I bought this mobile day before yesterday and according to ... moreI bought this phone last week and for the most i agree but for the 3.5mm headphone jack:
"Sony’s move to adopt the CTIA standard for its 3.5mm jack is good news as it immediately opens up a wide range of accessories for 2012 Xperia owners. However, the flip side to this, is that due to the different pin configuration, older headsets that can currently be used with 2010/2011 Xperia devices will not be compatible with 2012 Xperia phones."The 3.5mm jack will now use the CTIA standard as opposed to the OMTP standard it was using previously."
As quoted by xperiaBlog.net
It's not locked to Sony products.
The latest system update to 6.0.A.3.73 resolves some issues with the Touch response of the keys you mentioned.
Also the bottom part houses the mic and antenna, the clear strip is purely asthetics but they could have just used it as a one piece plastic, but then you'd lose the unique look.
I'd probably add that the phone feels great although i find the back cover a bit flimsy as it doesnt really sit in the phone properly and i feel any pressure upwards will slip it off.
The other annoying thing is that since there is no homescreen button, to wake the phone you can only press the power button which is awkawrdly positioned on top. also imagine you break the power button/wear it out for over use, theres no way to really get to your home screen (unlike sgs and iphone where you can use the homescrren button or power button).
It's still an awesome phone though, hopefully ICS fixes up some of the ui. brightness issues and more customaisations (font etc). ceebs dl apps to do it.

I bought this mobile day before yesterday and according to my experience in this 2 days, I would like to mention some of the limitaitons I felt with this phone.
1. Battery not removable. Which means we can not extend the already poor battery.
2. Memory not expandable.
3. 3.5mm headphone is different from the ones of Samsung, Nokia, and others. So you have to stick to the same headset which are provided with Sony.
4. Touch response is way slow compare to other devices.
5. I don't understand the reason for keeping the bottom part. The touch buttons are above the icons. Unnecessarily attached the part below.
6. No video calling option.
7. No internet pass-through feature which is provided in HTC to directly use internet from Laptop/Desktop attached with USB.
8. Speaker sound does not give a great feeling and seems to have single speaker itself with lower volume when compared to others in race.
If I'm wrong, I would be happy tobe corrected, and I request anyone to please correct me if I'm wrong.

Guys this phone is made for multimedia and entertainment.... With its inbuilt bravia engine... The colours are truly amazing.... For a smartphone. Overall I've been using this phone for over a month now... And what really pisses me off is the freaking inbuilt battery. If you are a heavy user like me playing games.... browsing ....,facebook...like those stuff well you're in for a treat... The battery lasts for 7hours tops.., and then you may have to spend 3-4 hours to fully Charge it. So eventually you are gonna be frustrated charging the phone halt the time.,,,that's the only problem I have and a big issue too. Hopefully icecream sandwich may help out a little with the battery life. Overall Sony has outdone themselves for a show off their first ever smartphone.

ive been using this phone for a month now. the battery isnt as bad as you think. it would easily survive a day of heavy use and the phone is as fast as you would imagine. i open 5 applications together and it's lightning fast. the camera is perfect the display is amazing. i wouldnt prefer ANY phone over it. i have a galaxy s2 with it, it looks like a useless piece of plastic next to my xperia S
