Just got this today, using it alongside my 4s, no complaints so far. Screen quality is great, disagree with what you said about viewing angles, I think they are very good and much better than iPhone. It still has a way to go to Replace the 4s, but glad I chose it over the sgs2

Xperia S - Gaming on a larger, HD screen
Appreciating the fact that the internal rendering done on the system is in HD
The fact that the USB and HDMI ports are separate helps a lot too, evidenced by the controller (though it doesn't work with all games)

To compare this phone to my old SGS2 lets see..
-SGS2 is like holding a soap bar
-Xperia is has a much sharper screen, but needs squinting
-1080p videos records on my SGS2 is constantly trying to focus, not a problem in the Xperia

Best phone at the moment for me.
1. I dont need MicroSD, had 3 phones with MicroSD cards, never used MicroSD card enywhere.
2. ICS is comming. ICS have only 2% of the phones on the market.
3. Screen is superb without whitemagic from P.
4. Dual core is more then enough.
I am now on single core 1GHz with ARC for about 1 year, and i can play games on the big Plazma 50" screen, all i need in the new Sony S a better battery and so i can remove it, nothing els. Seriously all about marketing.

The problem so far with 2012 and 'flagship' phones that have been announced / come out..
With every manufacturer so far they've compromised their specs, often taking away features that were readily given last year...
Look at the line-up so far...
Sony XP S - no expandable memory, dual core with results too similar to GS2 for a phone a year older, not optimised for ICS, screen not as good as lower model XP P
HTC One X - no expandable memory, no radio, below-par camera, average screen tech
Nokia 808 - symbian OS (dying), very poor screen resolution
Lumia 900 - stifled specs due to OS, just a larger version of a phone that came out last year, all the restrictions that Win 7.5 come with
So far, there isn't a 'clear' winner in the mobile race for 2012..
This is why, I guess, people are waiting for Sammy GS3 - all it needs to do is keep everything it had last year (not take away anything like every other manufacturer has done) AND give it a big performance boost... and it'll run rings around the competition... but no doubt it'll be a VERY boring design (another compromise, but one at least that can be rectified with a nice case)
It's a shame really as all the flagships mentioned above are really good in their own way, but each one has totally unnecessary compromises, inflicted by short-sighted manufacturers...
The choice is yours!!

AnonD-26870, 31 Mar 2012No,HTC Beats. Sony has to do his homework first ...Htc needs to check their designs maybe then they will outsell samsung.
And sofware wise none of the android competitors can beat sony at the moment.
Smart tags
Live dock
the connection with their bravia tv's is brilliant
and the screen is the best there is at the moment.
Those amoleds are'nt as good as every site is making you beleive. Compare them in real live.
And the viewing angles are good enough if you are showing something to 4persons and it saves you that privacy layer

Anonymous, 01 Apr 2012An excellent comment - the madness with obsessing over huge... moreIts partially true as hardware always run faster than software in pc history .
However i do agree that android hardware is good enough and they need to focus on software optimization now .

look like the best phone till date. i want to change my handset, but i am stiil waiting for sony to relase a fon with 5'' or 5.5 inch screen size, (less size that tab.. i mean that can be carried easily, like i am comfortable with psp to carry. ) i like to watch movies while on the go... i've compared all the handsets, like nokia, samsung and sony etc.. i can say its hardware is most compatible with android.

Have had this bad boy for 2 weeks and I intend to keep using it until it stops working. I have no doubt there will be better phones in the future, I get my HTC One x this week, but in terms of a complete package, this phone rocks! Debatable as to whether the One x can be considered better but I usually have to phones on the go and change phone often.
The only criticism, if you can call it that, are those three tiny buttons which I am getting used to. I suspect Sony wont relicate this aspect as without it, this would be the perfect handset.

LOL - after every flagship review the fanboys come out to play!!
Everyone has to have their say "their manufacturer is the best..." the irony is that it isn't THEIR manufacturer, it's a multi-million pound / dollar company that wants YOUR money!!
This ridiculous notion that 'Nokia is the best' or 'Sony is my company' - RIDICULOUS! Are you all that naive to think that they care about YOU?!? They want YOUR MONEY, nothing more, nothing less, until you LEARN to think for YOURSELVES and stop being BLINDLY LOYAL to companies, then you're always going to be so ridiculously CLOSE-MINDED and not give yourself any CHOICE in new phones, etc.
Be an individual, not a SHEEP.
You all make me laugh...
