HTC One X review: eXtra special

12 April 2012
How about this for a rebound after a rather quiet second half of last year. A massive change of game plan sees HTC focus on a special few products instead of trying to create a smartphone for every taste. An outstanding result of this effort...

Snow Yip, 13 Apr 2012Juz got my One X for a week. I did notice d flickering hap... moredude here's what's going on the signal strength being weak its just that you don't see a full signal strength but the call quality and the internet connection it works smoothly. and as for your 2nd problem papago ? it doesn't support all the phones specially one x being a phone that has been released lately the support for this phone hasn't been included in that app. its not that one x is not supporting the 3rd party GPS apps its the other way around the 3rd party GPS app has not been updated to support one x.

AnonD-112, 13 Apr 2012You should plug your phone in the charger, have the brightn... morestop with your stupidity I checked myself maxing out the brightness and playing with the phone for an hour. no flickering or whatsoever nobody or not even in one review did it state that the screen has the problem. You are a liar who said Nokia n9 camera is 10 times better then the one x camera and the galaxy nexus has a better camera then one x. stop bashing the phone with your lies get a life HTC made a brilliant job with this its the end of story.

Don't you people ever learn anything the dual core krait is not better then one x. the benchmarks show the results better in one s due to it being in qhd resolution on a smaller screen. See the 3rd page of the review gsmarena quoted " We've already seen those in action on the One S, but One X offers even smoother performance and higher resolution. " and they also quoted that " it's really awesome and the OS and the Sense UI look even better on its HD resolution than on the One S qHD. The One X offers probably the best smartphone experience up to date - both visual and functional. " just stop trying to make one x look bad cause HTC managed to make an awesome phone this time. the quad-core tegra 3 may not be better then the krait dual core by much but it is certainly better and its more future proof. and most of all it gives you more satisfaction knowing that you are having a quad-core rather then a dual-core.

I did notice d flickering hap... moreYou should plug your phone in the charger, have the brightness on the highest and play around with the phone and pay close attention to the annoying flickering. On low brightness you can't see it but when the brightness is high it's REALLY ANNOYING!

The camera quality is only cr*p with the built-in apps. From what I have read Zoom FX and Camera ICS+ are MUCH better and produce higher bitrates and image sizes

Juz got my One X for a week.
I did notice d flickering happens on d 3rd party ads but paid less attention to it.
But there are 2 major problems that had reported mostly in forums.
                    1) poor signal reception. Especially on 3G, low data reception that really pissed everyone off.
                    2) GPS - UNABLE to support 3rd party GPS apps such like Papago. My Samsung use Papago for free!!!

krait seems to be better than tegra 3 in every aspect, darn i wish HTC one XL came in a 32gb version: it's the same as one x in addition to 4g (LTE) and better cpu inside!

Is any of you guys having the screen flickering issue? I had it last night and it was really bad and annoying.
I think the screen refresh rate is very slow on some occasions and it makes the screen flickers. It's not that noticeable but when you do notice it, it becomes very annoying!

If any of you guys having the same issue please leave a comment.

A bright lens of f/2.0 and this is all you got? So much hype for dedicated image processor. I guess my old f/2.0 lumix lx5 will still give me great photos. Gsmarena recommends Xperia S if you're camera centric and want android. Xperia S has smaller aperture of f/2.4 compared to this f/2.0

Only 16gb on the One s so not even at the starting gate! I love my Xperia S, best dual core set out there, but had to get this for looks and awesome performance and no regrets whatsoever! I can finally stop aiming for the stars in my search for the complete handset. 32gb is sufficient for me, average use everyday so far and still have 60% battery left, far more than my IP4 and Xperia S both usually below 25% with the same amount of usage. Can't put this phone down....it is stupendous!

Checked image quality in your photo comparison tool and HOX is definitely on par with iP4S... maybe tends to underexpose a bit and skin tone is better handled by iP4s, however regarding detail and noise its comparable. iP4s is more cultivated in terms of noise handling, but i wouldn´t call IQ of HOX uninspiring by any means.
