AnonD-929, 10 May 2012I'm looking at upgrading from my iPhone 4S for the followin... moreI would say , go for galaxy Nexus or S3 , but as far as i am concerned with price , Galaxy nexus sells for $399 , Dont buy samsung Touchwiz UI integrated mobile because samsung never gave updates regularly and u have to wait like 4-5 months after google announcesthe latest OS update (unlike apple where u get update instantly the date apple announces).
galaxy Nexus had decent screen and "Pure" Android experience , I know that u say its not having quad core or something but u said u want fluid experience , Stock android doesn't come with "Bloatware" or crap pre-installed , So in my opinion galaxy Nexus works for u solely because i am also user of iOS and found Nexus series appealing because of "Clean" OS without 3rd party crap.
Take example of s2 , still many regions didnt get Ice cream sandwich update , and it had been 5-6 months since Ice cream sandwich update came officially.
Depends on ur choice , S3 is good phone but dont expect updates to launch soon after google announces them , if u want latest updates and maximum google integration and "stock" android experience , get nexus else , u can straightly buy Galaxy s3.

AnonD-929, 10 May 2012I'm looking at upgrading from my iPhone 4S for the followin... moreHey Craig,
AS you had a hands on with HTC One X, i am sure GS3 has the same dimensions more or less.
Outdoor Screen visibility of Super AMOLED is way superior than the LCD counterparts. I am sure that should not bother you at all. That said, watch out for a complete review on the screen with comparisions. Last two Super AMoled HD screens have few issues here and there.
From the specs, gS3 has bigger battery to survive with good usage. If you are particular about this point, suggest you to wait for a detailed Battery test.
Screen size: Honestly, for few people 3.5 inches is big enough to handle. dont get me wrong, it all depends on the ergonomics and how well you get adapted to the device. upon regular usage ,there are guys who handle the NOTE single handed, (they are not giants though :)). It just takes some time.
i agree with you on Siri or Svoice, good feature but not so widely practical. Helpful while driving.
Let me no jump to conclusion right away and wait for a complete review, but i guess GS3 should be a good choice.

I will say 4.3 screen was the upper most limit for a phone....
any more increase in screen size is pushing the phone size too much.....
So i would like it if all companies stick to 4.3 size for their high end flagships.... Hell if i could find HD resoultion in 4.3, i would buy it in a heartbeat....

@Anton : it doesn't mean that we are not into samsung, just sometimes their product such as tablet and smartphone can not stand the competition, I mean how many people out there actually used galaxy tablet? Also samsung tend to follow the trend rather than the trend maker, don't get me wrong I like the galaxy s2 but I need samsung to outpace apple in terms of breakthrough technology for smartphone, it would be nice tO see some breakthrough coming from other manufacturer other than apple, say from htc, samsung , Sony or nokia
Thanks

Seriously guys some of you must take off your "anti-samsung" goggles. I will get this phone, not loving the looks but it is not that bad, would have liked a different material though. This phone is bigger than all competition, but only marginal in comparison with one X, and bigger than s2, but if you can fit s2 into your pocket, you'll be able to fit s3 into your pocket. Just about everything is upgraded considerably and the benchmarks show this. People who believe 4s is such an amazing phone have no reason to comment, way over-priced, average hardware, great OS although extremely boring, but its kicker is Siri lol( seriously I will hardly ever use s-voice, and have NEVER seen anyone use siri, so good concept but not that practical ). So iphone 4s = stop-gap to siphen more money from iPhans, and in SA is still more expensive than new ipad, so where is the sense in that. The s3 will blow 4s off this planet in terms of performance, but you'll always have die hard people buying iphones because of ignorance.

Let's face it guys! Please a little honesty with ourselves.
Samsung indeed did f* up this device! It's huge and I mean very huge, it's beyond ugly and no way it's a proper smartphone to use daily.
Many SG2 owners were also disappointed, no one is asking for a pretty phone as samsung were always known for their great freatures and not great looks.
But like I mentioned earlier there is a limit for ugliness and samsung did indeed pass this limit.
This won't be a huge hit like the GS2, you will see by yourselves.

Anonymous, 10 May 2012I agree with you there. Everyone is just making up lame exc... moreS3 is the same size as S2 .. Ummmmm ... try 11mm taller and 4mm wider - don't think that counts as it being the same size ... it's amazing that they cram a 4.8 into that package, I agree, but NOT the same size by FAR - but really, people want a larger size screen - get a tablet folks !! let's not forget the purpose of the smartPHONE is just that... to use as a phone first (and be able to fit into a pocket comfortably - without having to carry around your man purse!)

I'm looking at upgrading from my iPhone 4S for the following reasons:
Negatives:
- A 3.5" screen these days for a touch phone is too small & we all known Apple won't go bigger then 4" on their next model & then again it will stay that size for 4 years. A 4" screen is still a tad small.
- bored with no customization. Can't sit folders on screen where you want them.
- Cant set up widgets on screen
Positives:
- iTunes integration ( but realize I can link iTunes to other mobiles also)
- Notifications push to notify better then Android (know this from past Android experience)
- iOS fluidity use. Quick, responsive and fast to switch between applications.
What I'm looking for in a new mobile:
- A 4.3" screen or a little bigger.
- OS fluidity quick and responsive
- Personal customization
- Widgets
- Great battery life for medium to heavy use
- Removable battery
- Mobile can be linked to iTunes on my MacBook Pro
I'm considering the Samsung Galaxy SIII, however my concerns are:
- A 4.8" screen size. I see the dimensions are almost that of the HTC One X & my Dad has the HTC One X and firstly I'm not a fan of One X as its battery doesn't cope with medium use, like the screen but can't see it when out doors in the sun. The width of the One X feels good. I've seen a YouTube clip with the SIII sitting on top of the SII and the width was almost the same and height not that much taller. I liked the SII design but still found the fluidity of the OS laggy and slow.
- I like the design of the SIII as it does give a more professional look then that of the ONE X and doesn't look as much as a toy like the iPhone 4S.
Now don't get me wrong, I don't hate the iPhone it just is a boring mobile to use cause you can't change and customized it's iOS from time to time and screen size is too small and I'm just growing bored of the iPhone.
Watching nearly every YouTube review on the SIII it's fluidity looks like its just as great and quick as iOS and has heaps of good little features but I probably wouldn't use a few but good knowing that they are there.
My only concern is a 4.8" screen size, I do love the 4.3" size screen, I think that's a perfect size so I don't know if I spend my money on buying a SGSII or pay extra and get the SGSIII.
What are your guys suggestions?
Cheers
Craig

"The Koreans made the S III a thorough package so that its rivals won't have many exclusive features to brag about" :D
i´m sure about that.....it´s samsung we´re talking about and they, of course, took benefit of the late release...
