Contrast not as good as the P at indoor brightness and blacks certainly not as black.
GSMarena pointed all these things out as bad points on the Xperia P. Just goes to show how poor the GSMarena review of the Xperia P was.

Got a new Xperia U, 15 days Back.
Cons:
====
1) Beautiful Display (thans to Pixel densilty)
2) Beautiful design ( it is good in hands)
3) No problem in Performance, or lag ( atleast for lightweight games)
Pros:
====
1) Heating issue once in a while
2) Signal reception is not upto the standards.
3) Gotta admit, 3.5" is really an issue.
Summary:
=======
Best Android Phone at that price range, i literally went through every option in the market, for this price point.

This weird for phone targetting youngster without card expansion. How could they store game data, music and video? My xperia arc s with 8 gb still not enough even though i don't play heavy game. Bussiness oriented person maybe suit better with this since they don't care much about entertainment.

While xperia U is an excellent android device, a very worthy competitor is Samsung Omnia W which is a windows 7.5 device and costs about the same as nokia Lumia 710.(Rs 15200 in India) Omnia W has super amoled, front camera and a gyroscope over and above nokia Lumia 710. I wonder why gsmarena failed to mention it. While I'm using both Samsung Omnia W and xperia U, I have realized that an average sales guy does not have the ability to understand the beauty of windows phone OS. An apple phone is marketed aggressively with 3.5 inch screen, no file manager, no bluetooth file transfers and so on. Still every damn website won't hesitate to pit it against Samsung galaxy s3 or HTC One X. Many of the windows limitations (if you consider them to be) are common with iOS. But it's all about marketing the product. Xperia U comes close to iphone 4S hardware wise barring the camera. But every techie would shrug at the idea of drawing a comparison between iphone 4s and xperia U because of the brand value attached to apple which is bubble waiting to burst

It is an incredible phone. I have using it since a weak. IT really has some of the best features. Only and only thing that i miss is a memory card slot. other than that nothing can beat this device in its price range.
The battery is a decent one. I charge in the evening and it lasts the next whole day. I do accelerated gaming for almost a couple of hour, internet browsing in the between and an hour or so of calling. 30-40 messages as well.
It has a front facing camera too so, it can be used to do video calling as well.

I have been waiting for this review from the time the phone was announced. I liked the phone the first time I saw it. I just wanted to make sure to read GSMArena's review before buying this phone. Excellent review and excellent phone. Thank you GSMArena.

You will face a near impossible task finding a phone better than this for the money you pay for it on the high street or online.
Comes with a rich supply of quality and demand we come to see with the ever-evolving smartphone market.
High resolution, high PPI, Dual-Core processor is reliable and powerful, Mali-400 graphics will play any game you throw at it, however 'HD' it might be.
The design is rather incredible, stunning.
Enjoy being eye catching while your phone lights up like Chinese New Year in a multitude of colours.
Slim and high quality finish. It looks expensive.
Even phones at a higher price will struggle to re-arrange themselves after the Xperia U.
Only downside or downsides unfortunately is the limited storage space. Why no-one knows Sony decided to NOT put a MicroSD slot in the U is a mystery to all. Those memory cards were in phones in 2005! This is 2012 and phones will be morphing into robots and Sony still didnt put the slot in. Oh well. Still a reasonable amount of onboard storage compared to some in its weight class.
Screen is well detailed and you will struggle to spot the pixels individually BUT, its thin.
Playing games like DoomGLES or PES2012 make you feel uncomfortable because you cant get your damn fingers around the screen without smothering it with your pinky finger.
