Nokia 808 PureView blind test: The sum of all pixels

14 June 2012
The Nokia 808 PureView has finally landed in swirling storms of hype. And of course, it wasn't given a chance to catch a breath. We didn't meet it empty-handed either. We had a finger on the shutter of some mean cameraphones and an EVIL digicam...

i think the e is pureview and f is evil cam.
The F provide the sharpest image overall .
The E is the second, and the tone also same as other pureview image.

    now i really don't know f or e.

I judge that D is the pure view where E (with much less compression) must be the Olympus with the larger sensor and interchargeable lens.

I would confirm that E is Nokia Pureview . The images are not to sharp especially when you looking at the the outline of certain objects in the pictures on E. They have smooth outline to the objects especially looking at certain writings. An objects in E are not that blurry.

Certainly E is the best, but F is quite close. These two play in a league of their own. Every other sensor suffers heavily of very limited dynamic range, aliasing and shadow noise. I think F is the Pureview, but the Olympus Pen still beats it by a margin.

Even if Nokia is F instead of E, it is a great achievement, but I don't want to see it in 41 megapixels mode if it can't stand a mere 8 MP competition with an outdated sensor as it is the one being mounted in Olympus cameras since 2009.

E and F are best and comparable. Though F color balance is towards red. My vote for E, as its the most accurate.

F: Nokia 808; the least possible level of noise

D: Olympus; the smallest FOV of all

A and E are the most identical parts in all samples, so they should belong to 4S and S3, as they sport the same sensor; however, as in the comparisons S3 takes a bit sharper long distance outdoor photos A should refer to the S3 and E to 4S.

C: One X; darker and noisier than the rest

B: N8; Pretty much similar to the photos taken by S3 and 4S, just brighter in outdoor shots

                                        In Conclusion:
                                        A: Samsung Galaxy S3
                                        B: Nokia N8
                                        C: HTC One X
                                        D: Olympus E-PL2
                                        E: Apple iPhone 4s
                                        F: Nokia 808 PureView
