Nokia 808 PureView blind test: The sum of all pixels

14 June 2012
The Nokia 808 PureView has finally landed in swirling storms of hype. And of course, it wasn't given a chance to catch a breath. We didn't meet it empty-handed either. We had a finger on the shutter of some mean cameraphones and an EVIL digicam...

E is Nokia 808, it has the best image quality.
F is Olympus, it comes out second.
The other four clearly fall behind in terms of picture quality.

E&F - 808&Olympus. Other four shots doesn't have a single chance against that two. And which of this pair is 808s job - that is a question!;)
My vote for E. F is a bit better - it's likely to be Olympus.

F and E are really clpse by.
If I had to guess, judging by the review they posted here, D is the One X.

Well, the clear winner is E. Best detail and color reproduction. I think that's the Olympus and F is the Nokia, which is the second best in quality. I will be really impressed if E is the PureView.

the 808 has a very distinct signature..

                          808 is E

easy...E-pureview...least noise from the sample and we know oversampling reduce a lot of noise

E is the best, F is very close (these too are 808 and Olympus, not sure which is which). F is a bit brownish, I might guess it could be 808 if the ND filter was on when shooting (the ND filter seems to give a brownish colour sometimes)

                              A and B are 3rd-4th. I think A might be N8 and B might be iPhone 4S.

C and D are kinda weak.

I hope (as a future buyer) that 808 is E, but F would be also very good (if it's 808 the image might not be a bit brown if the ND filter would be set to OFF).

How come there is no close up -examples. If you wanna replace compact camera with your mobile phone, then it is necessary to know how pictures from short distance work. And of course with a less light!
