Sony Xperia ion for AT&T review: US Xperiance

10 July 2012
Sony was the talk of town during CES 2012 back in January and the Xperia ion for AT&T was among the main reasons why. Launched alongside the Xperia S, the Sony Xperia ion took the great honor of being the company’s first LTE smartphone. To make the matters even...

not good enough sony. why is no one working on the unsolved battery autonomy problem? all the manufacturers know that. why not at least 2500mah battery when they all know that average battery can barely make 12 hours of serious use?

SGS1 received 2.2 and 2.3 update months ahead of Xperia X10. That's just a true and anyone can check that fact.

Xperia X10 has similar specs to SGS1, yet it ended up getting nothing while SGS1 got something(value pack). That's just a fact as well.

Same story for SGS2 and Xperia S.

I didn't talk about all phones, but I just recommended anyone to buy flagships if they can afford and want proper "official" updates since all Android OS update requires high specs and the cheap phones aren't stable on this latest os. If you can't afford it then it's fine, but I'm just making my point by Samsung and HTC have better history of updating their flagships.

I would't forgive Sony for releasing GB for Xperia X10 months later than SGS1 and Desire.

Plus, Sony Xperia S released a year later than SGS2 and see who got the update first. SGS2 is already on 4.04.

The thing that I don't understand was that, Sony's been supplying Apple and Samsung their camera module and always has great results. With their own products (the Xperia line) it feels like it was just meh & bleh

"The music controls replace the clock, which might be annoying if you just want to check the time."

You said this in the Xperia S review too (and the other NXT reviews I'm guessing), but you can actually just swipe the music controls to the right to get the clock again. Just wanted to let you guys know :)

if xperia s is the best phone for you guys, then look at this phone's specs first.just compare the two..sony xperia ion having the better network with its LTE, a card slot and a 1900mAh battery..isn't the better phone?.

Android 4.0 (ICS) is already available on the international version of the Xperia Ion. The delay here is obviously caused by AT&T and not Sony.

If the Xperia S is anything to go by, it will be a great phone. I love the XS' UI, it's way better resolved than in Samsung and a bit nicer than HTC which is in close second, especially after the ICS update. I recommend this phone to anyone who doesn't need 4 cores!

it is just because of sony just want to relase it beause they announced and if time back they never announced it, just look the quality of xperia s camera and this one, xperia s has so musch better camera and the best in android world without doubt.,they put their effort to international flagship. xperia s is the real killer not ion.ion is good enough for its price contract for att. anyway sony is the best

I own a Xperia S and i must say that the phone is really awesome, sony's combo of a Exmor R lens+ walkman quality music+ bravia hd display givesit an edge over the competition. Its principle of giving a better UI to the end user rather than blindly running in the race of having the best spec sheet is truely commendable. Keep it up SONY!!!
