Samsung Galaxy S III mini preview: First look

11 October 2012
The Samsung Galaxy S III is one beast of a smartphone, but for many it is still too much to handle. A strong point can be made that a large screen is necessary for proper enjoyment of media on the go or great browsing experience, but not everyone is willing to put a with the body that...

Marc Aurel, 13 Oct 2012It's not just a theory, it's full blown conspiracy theory. ... moreST-Micro's NovaThor U8500 is not better than Samsung's Exynos 4 series. Samsung should've put Exynos 4 in this device.

One more thing, ST-Micro currently signed a deal of outsourcing its chips to Samsung.

I feel strong that there was a deal between two companies and EU involes in this matter.

The NovaThor U8500 also is a fairly good chipset for the price just like the tests in the review show. It's not supposed to match the four core chipsets or even dual core Kraits, which are more expensive.

ab, 12 Oct 2012Can't wait for this phone.. I know what I am saying.. You s... moreFor the same price as this S3mini you can get Sony Xperia S with 4.3" HD display, dual core 1.5ghz, 32GB storage, 12MP camera with full HD, front facing camera with 720p, NFC, bigger battery etc. etc. etc.

At the end of 2012 Samsung releases a phone with 5MP 720p camera?? funny..

But if they would make S3 mini with hd 4" display and better camera they really would hit the mark.

          Here is my theory.

From the specs sheet, it seems Samsung adopts ST-Microelectronics' chipset which is proven to be crap by several Sony phones and low-end Samsung phones for GSG3 Mini.

And ST-Microelectronics is European semiconductor company. Samsung had a deal with European Union to use chips by ST-Micro, so EU courts rule the several lawsuits in favor of Samsung.

It's only a theory and I don't have a document to back up my case, but there is something very fishy about this Galaxy 3 mini. It just doesn't add up.

What Samsung should've done is - repackaging SGS2 in a slightly different, but attractive body shells. That would be more convincing deal.

This won't sell. Mark my words. This won't sell.

SGS2 will outsell this and wipe the floor until any decent phone replaces it.

I would assume by carrying the S III label that the Mini will offer the same overall user experience as it's brother. However, I couldn't find that information in the preview. Hopefully, GSM Arena will answer these questions in the full review. :-)

                      what a piece of cr@p

this was an opportunity to created a 4" phone for the premium range

instead they put a phone thats sub standard to the galaxy s2

they're not even trying anymore- the plasticy galaxy s3 was the worst designed phone i have ever seen in my life- to rebrand a galaxy s1 with that design just shows how clueless this company is

samsung had a real chance to destroy apple after the iphone 5- instead apple are given a free ride

destroying the "s" brand with mid range crap is like mercedes creating an s class car with an audi floor plan

its sub standard for the premium range- its mid range and it should stay there

Razr M - better-bigger screen (higher PPI, better resolution), smaller than SIII mini, better battery life, kevlar back instead of plastic, 8M camera
                        Why not?

I was quite interested in a mini version of the Samsung Galaxy S3 since the big slab was released in May 29th.
I always thought that a mini would be perfect for use, upon seeing it, I can say that this is what I have been waiting for in an Android phone. Great ergonomics & functionality.
I now await it's arrival & hope the price matches my expectations.
P.S. an Apple iPhone 4 User!

S3 mini which means a high end android phone in a small chasis is a great idea never done before, a very good way to compete iPhone in a new front...

But if you go the other way, create S Advance Plus (or Ace 2 Plus) and name it as if it's a top of the line model that's lying to your customers...

I've lost all my sympathy to Samsung...

this device is totally different with the big one (s3) then why it called s3 mini. as I know the mini title is the product with same hardware as predecessor but with more compact size and design..example n97 to n97 mini etc.
