Well they should have placed the cable plug for the tablet/station at the short sides, so you can charge it in wide/writing format while using it. Turn it around can work but not optimal because of the placement of the phone. Also the cable is short.
The screens are very reflective which is bad for the eyes, but makes colors look more impressive at first.
Besides that, it is okay.
Btw does anyone knows about SAR-value?

I really like the look of the padfone and the idea, but I think the price is too high £650 when it comes out in the us. I would personally get the nexus 4 and nexus 10 for

I assume a major benefit to the design is the ability to use a tablet on your phone's data plan, so no need to pay for the additional "tethering" onto a personal hotspot as per iphones ?
Also no need to get a 3g/4g tablet and the associated data plan or "mifi" spot for on the go connectivity.
Surely this is one of the prime selling points, and to avoid more expensive monthly charges and create independence from your home wifi.
Are there any other options out there that would allow you to do this ?

You are replying to a discussion that has nothing to do with iPhones / market share / sales
recap... one commenter said that it was a waste to buy a 300$ accessory that does not work by itself. The phone is a waste.
I reply that ONLY the TABLET is useless without the phone. The phone works awesome by itself... and if you happen to lose it or break it, just publish the tablet accessory on ebay and somebody else with the PadFone 2 will buy it.
You sir, made NO SENSE talking about iPhone, market share and all those crap.

The iPhone sure as hell didn't do that. It has taken years. Now what you missed or just didn't want to see when you looked at those numbers is that Android will ship on as many units as the iPhone will ship this year. And its expected to overtake the iPhone in sales within the next year or so. Next time check all the numbers before you talk.

-We are discussing here about the Asus PADFONE 2, not any other asus transformer tablet. You cannot compare the AP2 to any Samsung product since the last doesn't produce any phone-tablet combo to match this particular Asus model.
- I agree Samsung phones and tablets are light and thin, which I really like. Also materials feel weak and cheap in your hands, what I dislike.
- Samsung tends too much to 'check'(not gonna say copy) on other brands' products, which I dislike, and when they (or their legal team) decide to design something of their own, the result is the SG3...talking on aesthetics, 2012's ugliest smartphone. Asus as a pure manufacturer comes up with interesting (and new) ideas and do create their own style line and textures.
- Samsung offers lost of software, true. Lots of crap also which you cannot un-install even if you want to. I like the clean Android roms from Asus.
We could keep on going, but no need to...

The only thing it lacks is the transformer keyboard and the ports!!! i dont care about that i just like the software!!! And yes its the same as asus(honeycomb) but samsung added some enhancement to it.

A positive note, I have had the phone on for 1 day 13 hours, and at that point I had 54% battery left. Mobile data, Wifi, all left on. Screen on 60%. This phone will get you through to the 3rd maybe 4th day on light usage (light for me means about 1 hour phone calls a day, screen on for about 2.5-3 hours a day, some mails and sms.
Really, my SGS2 with the same usage - 1 day tops. One X, 1 day maybe 26 hours.. this thing lasts at least 48-72 hours.. amazing so far.
Volume or sound I should say is very clear, like very clear! Its not the loudest thing I have ever heard, but you forget this quality sound is coming from a little speaker.
Battery, speed, and build quality have all impressed me. The tablet is nice, its like the other tablets, not as good as an iPad 3 screen wise, but the battery functions, the one sim card, and the ability to do real work with Polaris Office for free is amazing.

Received my padfone 2 64gb a week ago.
So far :
1. The phones build quality is excellent. Feels great and looks beautiful.
2. The processor works excellent with great response time.
3. No software issues so far. Except the occasional andriod restart. Happens when u use cracked apps.
4. Battery life is excellent when u use it with the tab but overall just like any other phone needs recharging at the end of the day if you browse, download heavily etc.
5. Not to fond of the tab as it has sensitivity issues. Which should relate to software rather than hardware. e.g. Auto maximization while scrolling text.
6. The speakers on the tab are quite brilliant.
7. I love the smart saving app that asus has embedded into the phone. The only downside is its not really option friendly. Which means if you turn it on default settings no internet only calls. Whats a phone without 3g or lte??
Overall its amazing. Suggestion would be get the phone and wait for a software update to JB. Then id suggest to buy the tab. Unless you want a battery pack which comes with the screen.

So I received the PadFone 2.
Quick review? Thats why we are all here. Cant wait for the proper GSMArena (LTEArena).
Build quality is terrific. Actual phone is A1 - no pixel or other issues, as is the station. The speed, and built in apps on it are awesome. I downloaded some apps, lightning quick, quadrant 7491.
4G Speeds are great. Battery life I will get back about but im expecting decent. No Touchwiz on it for once! Juts raw android. THERE IS RADIO BUILT IN.
You must put the headphones in to enable it.
Ill review more once I have used it more, but this seems like a winner. Perfect size.

Denzo, 03 Nov 2012Thats great news to hear, so the phone will get JB, KLP the... moreWell, I cannot be sure about that. The only thing I can tell you my 'old' Transformer has got around 10 official updates till now and runs 4.0.3. since months ago. Don't remember when exactly anymore XD.
The native sofware it includes is great, only beaten by the exuberance of HTC Sense (which some people enjoy and some other hate). The notification center/bar is by far the best on the market, in my opinion. I cannot upload pictures but you can google it.
Just one advice for everyone buying android products...Run, run, run away from carrier models/roms since these are full of useless crap which slow down your device. Try to find a direct reseller with the clean official rom, who eventually will be able to attach your device to a any carrier contract. Otherwise you will need to reinstall the the official brand rom (sometimes with warranty issues with carrier) in order to get the best of the hardware you purchased.
