Okay, this looks like a really cool phone and all, but why can't HTC add a micro-sd card slot? I mean, 16gb(11gb usable), makes no sense at all. All these high-tech stuff would be an utter waste. The phone looks cool and I would buy it, but if HTC wants to compete with Samsung & Apple, they simply need to fix the storage system and the battery life of the phones. If they can do so, then thumbs up to HTC :)

Such a waste of GPU power to put a 1080p display on a phone, 1080p vs 720p on a display this small is the kind of thing that only people that want to believe that there's a visible difference will see...
Don't get me wrong, but it seems like they have no other way to innovate...
Anyway, the camera seems good, if at least there's a way to decrease the excessive sharpening...

HMMM...This is my initial reaction after reading the article
440ppi - cool!
everything else - '-_-
why?
Camera - more overhyped than Nokia's PureView tech
Beats Audio - doesn't really have much of an effect in the quality of music
Battery - need i say more? -_-
Sense UI - looks nice
S4 chip etc etc - well duh, LG had it.
I'd rather wait for next year or until Samsung, Nokia, LG and others have in store. These specs will be the base specs for the phones to be released next year. So yeah, HTC, you deserve nothing but the least recognition for your efforts.

1. Battery, i don't see how this can be justified.
2. no expandable memory, not a deal breaker for some.
3. HTC is Apple's bitch.

It pains me to see HTC shoot themselves on the foot...AGAIN.
My first ever smartphone was the Desire HD. I loved it. It was solidly built, looked stunning back then and had top tier specs. The only and worst offence? Incredibly horrible battery life. For a heavy user like me the battery would die out in a couple of hours from full charge. And it only got worse as time went. Eventually I bought a new phone.
With a 1080p display, quad core processor and high performance adreno chip powering the device you'd imagine HTC putting in a 3000 Mah battery. The aluminium unibody means extended battery packs will be limited to cover power cases. That is if manufactures decide to make one. The DHD had none.
Sad to see such a beautiful design go to waste.
Unless HTC remedies the long standing problem of horrid battery life on almost all of its phones I doubt customers would be returning anytime soon.

Battery is too small but IF its user replaceable could get a larger 3rd party battery.
But a locked bootloader or no micro sd card slot are deal breakers.
HTC are still not listening to their customers.

Those who actually owns a Note 2 (that includes me) can tell you that its a regular smartphone, just bigger and better than other smartphones. The phablet word is just stupid, Note 2 has no resemblance to a tablet, not in looks and not in the way you use it.

And ppl, pls stop saying that 300 ppi is the max, thats so wrong. It may the the max for distinguishing individual pixels, but have a look at an iphone4s and see for yourself that you an still see jagged lines, and then imagine how much better it will be on a 440 ppi display.
Wait till we can see devices side by side, HD vs Full HD. People with good vision, and people who are nearsighted, pretty much everyone (except far sighted people), can see blur around some fonts on 300dpi displays, thats a fact and ofcors 440dpi will improve that, and more than a little improvement, Full HD is really a major step forward.

Wow! I don't know if it's just me, but I just love the way it looks! The hd display, the impossibly thin bezel and the understated back panel rocks! There haven't been many phones that almost made me drool this way for a long time. I'll certainly upgrade to this if this ever gets launched in India. Time to start saving.

I Dont know why these people comparing this phone to Galaxynote 2 . Htc never promoted it as phablet. Its still a pure smartphone

The thing is the phone is fine, my DHD wich has a 1200 battery can hold itself pretty well.
The point is that this phone doesn't have a mSD slot, even though it's base off a phone that HAS (see J butterfly).
If I can go for it I'm going for the J Butterfly.

Ron, 13 Nov 2012If the human eye can not distinguish over 300ppi, why waste... moreFullHD will probably be "the end" of the PPI race - all flagship handsets will have it and it will not be a long time until 300ppi is required for entry-level devices. Sometime in the future >350ppi will be common for all phones/tablets and the only thing that wil be worth "racing" will be specs/performance and quality of the display and general build.

this phone will be shit in two things : battery life cuz of the 1080p screen and the GPU performance also cuz of the 1080p screen
what a shame HTC !! ilove ur phones but u keep disappointing me with disregarding important aspects in ur phones especially battery life :(
