Anonymous, 22 Nov 2012Well, it's great that we all have our own opinions otherwis... moreAnd I'll be the first to agree that "we all have our own opinions" and that's how it should always be. I'd like to point out however that I give educated statements based on facts aswell as opinions.
I disagree and you should have a look at "unbiased" drop tests. Yes Samsung don't utilise the most premium materials but the build quality of their devices are always good. The Note 2 is not so different from the S3 but there are notable changes. One could argue and people do that the IP5 has MANY issues and as do many other flagship models where users have reported to have been unhappy with the phone breaking so soon after their purchase. It all comes down to situational experiences and your treatment of your phone. I always have a well designed case and treat my phone in a safe manner so the build quality point you make is subjective and irrelevant.
Yes not everyone prefers a large screen some prefer bigger others smaller. But to say that it doesn't appeal to the masses is ridiculous. Who are you to talk on behalf of the masses? What evidence do you have? I can tell you on personal experience, reading reviews, friends etc that the general mass will go for a larger screen which provides "more" when viewing videos/games/web/ebooks/documents etc Most people can't stand going back to smaller screens once they have experienced the fresh and large experience of the S3/G/OneX and in this case the Note 2. Some people won't like it but in this era and with the current trends alot of emphasis is on larger screens. And NO I don't want the screen sizes to keep increasing 5.5" is BIG enough. SAmoled is great considering it's still isn't as mature as LCD's and the Note 2 is brighter then other Amo's and also utilises RGB as opposed to Pentile. The image quality is one of the best and only suprassed by phones like 920/DroidDNA etc that utilise next-gen tech on their display.
The phone size? Yes this is one of the major "ifs" "should I buy the Note 2, is it too big?" If you have small hands then expect some difficulty. I have average sized hands and I can feel the difference between the N2 and S3 but it's honestly fine. And you could say well everyone has their own view on this matter and they do. But the majority of people I've spoken too and the general notion is that people use two hands on smartphones. People are biased and judge it's large size before trying the phone for a week or two. It's big don't get me wrong but NOT big enough to be a disadvantage. Some will love it and others may need a weeks usage to get used to it but honestly using size is just looking for ways to discredit the Note 2.
There is no perfect device. But in my opinion AND when making use of professional reviews, and hardward/software comparison the Note 2 exceeds every phone. No phone on the market and I'm talking about the newer ones too can match the Note 2 productivity and multimedia offering. The best these OptimusG/DNA can say is they have next gen CPU/GPU chipsets and even then the Note2 is close on most benchmarks and exceeds them on others.
And I don't look up to these money-grabbers like they're gold, Samsung are actually value for money they've differentiated from other Manufacturers with their neat software integrations and tricks and yeah I'll happily defend or object anyone making false evidence-lacking biased statements.

"No microSD card slot; only 11GB of user-available memory" you FAIL HTC! Every single time your "great " deviceslack are found lacking...my 16gb phone and 32gb SD card are filled to the brim with movies, music, HQ photos and videos, HD games, comics, e-books and audio books... so what's the use of having 2gigs of ram and a gorgeous screen if you only have 11gigs of storage... that is the root of HTC failure and they simply don't seem to get it... :-\

AnonD-44302, 22 Nov 2012Talking about note 2: just see the build quality...its crap... moreWell said. I wish we could have more people with reasoning like you. Not some fanboys who crap on other brands, in the meantime they don't even use the stupid features that they always gloat about.

AnonD-66741, 22 Nov 2012love HTC . i can't wait for it to be compared to sgs3 or lg... moreOh Really!
Why does HTC Sense lag so much then. (HTC One X. Launcher, Contacts, Widgets all of them lag. Individual apps dont b'coz it is HTC's customization causing the lag)
Why does HTC not have any good software features like Smart Stay, Running Multiple Apps at the same time (like on Note II and Optimus G)
HTC has not made justice to hardware used. The only USP of this phone is the Full HD display. But there isnt much time until the competition catches up.

Classic HTC - a cracking phone in almost every respect, but they give it a killer weakness. No mystery as to why they're struggling.
Why are phones still hovering around the 16gb mark in 2012? The iPhone 3GS had a 32gb option in 2009. I was expecting us to be pushing 128 / 256 as standard by now.

I was expecting to have some breakthrough software features like on the Note II and the Optimus G. I must say HTC failed to impress me with this one.

I'm a vodafone dealer and all I can say is that HTCs phones aren't selling well. People choose either Apple(overwhelming majority) then Samsung. Especially iphine 5 and note 2 are selling like a hotcake.

db 5, 21 Nov 2012nice one HTC! for all techies out there, stop comparing it ... moreYeah, DNA starts in the handicap heat and must not be compared with a full blown complete smartphone like the Note 2. Be fair, this crippled HTC is not fit to compete.

It's a shame you couldn't do a trough display review like with most other phones. The display of the DROID DNA is arguably its most important component, and I was really expecting a section containing GSMArena's two cents.
Though other than that, great review - as usual.
