Blackberry did the right thing by developing their own os and ecosystem...! Nokia should have done the same thing with MeeGo, Linux, because Lumia 920 is only selling good because of the hardware design and the camera but WP8 is the reason why many of us never ever will buy any Nokia Lumia even if they get 41 MP, or more, camera! Even Android would have been a better choice for Nokia because then they could have used their popular Harmattan skin, but now every Nokia Lumia look identical to every WP8 from Samsung and HTC and... Blackberry, not WP8, is the choice for business-people, and Blackberrys ecosystem, games and apps..., will very soon be bigger, have more apps and games, than WP8!

im previous bb user and it gets me excited to see this phone and waiting for the final review of it! how i hope GSMARENA would includ the BBM experience. the Screen share, video chat for if there is a reason that we previous BB users consider in going back to BB its gotta be the BBM, BBM balance and some apps of course. i commend BLACKBERRY's effort in the os its refreshing and gesture-based which i find kinda interesting and exciting! the only problem i see in bb Z10 are numbers of apps some software glitch(like copy paste experience) and the lack of some eye-candy(gallery and music player) customization in active frame as well it doesnt look that good but for a built from scratch os i think BB nailed it compare to 1st iterations of WP7, ANDROID and iOS gsmarena make it faster please! :(

I'm glad that the BB Z10 has turned out to be good smartphone... more players, more options. What I find odd (specially due to BB's reduced placement in world's smartphones) is the snobbishness that they are displaying. You would think they would need/want everybody's help to advertise there phones... strange.

Bb10
Adv-:
1. New refreshing look serious contender to wp
2. Unified messaging is life saving. Only wp messaging comes close to it
3. Gesture baded ui is fun to use once u get used to it
4. Many imp apps are available at the tym of launching
5. Awesome keyboard. No competetion here.
6. Very smooth ui. Tightly integrated into hardware just like ios and wp.
7. True multitasking. I think its better than android and
Comes very clise to symbian.
8. Loved swipe to wake up feature.
9. If u r not app frenzy defintly a good driver for daily use
Disadv-:
1. Not mature like android nd ios
2. Hiccups in connecting to pc
3. Gesture based ui is not everyones cup of tea. Steep learning curve its a strict no no for my older parents. In fact anyone over 50 will find it quite difficult to operate. I think bb should introduce an easy mode of ui.
4. Unified messaging is good but sometimes things feel overcrowded.
5. Battery life is not upto the mark. I m getting through
The day needing to charge at bed time. I use it for 2 hrs browsing 1 hr music in metro, some mail and 1 hr calling and occasional youtube. Have seen better than
This
6. I hate to say this but apps constitute imp part and there is severe dearth now esp games. No choice here.
Overall bb is complete overhaul from previous bb and its more mature than wp the its launch compared to wp. Its main contender is wp esp from nokia. Nokia has better brand recognition than bb among general users but among corporate users bb is still champion. 2013 will be a good year for mobile industry esp with jolla and firefox entering later this year.. .thanks for reading...

Gestures are very similar to N9... And the price is $999?!!! Let us see if BB can recover with this pricing...

Brilliant pre-review GSMArena - I'm a long time BlackBerry fan and always appreciate your honest, detailed and impartial reviews and reports. Definitely one of the best 'proper' reviews I've read so far, even if it is only a first look.

Z10 is surely impressing.
With Q10's slobal launch still couple of months away, and blackberry making a statement of releasing 6 bb10 handsets this year, I'm really afraid if z10(like now) wud remain their flagship phone post next 6mnths.
We never know if bb introduces a 4.7-5" 1080p phone.
Bt even if they do, it shudnt be shocking as with z10 being their flagship and not Q10, they've made a statement that bb10 O.S Is extremely touch centric, and with few important amendments they can make with this OS(which does most of our more than basic needs), bb10 can get blackberry back in the game.
And its the hardwork of this company that's speaking.
Bb10- a good job done!

Thank you for this detailed preview. I actually learned some things that haven't even been mentioned in some reviews I've read. One thing though: are you sure the Z10 has FM radio? All other information I've read has stated that it doesn't has this feature. I hope you're correct, since this is an important feature for me.

It kind of reminds me of maemo5 on the n900 (which was amazing). Shame I've just bought a RAZR I or I'd be snapping this up.

Waiting for this big step for about 3 years...(bb user from 2002).They must release first 1-2 software updates and improve the horrible battery life and then i'll buy it :)
I suppose in Romania will be available in Aprile-May :) they have time to improve it !

I wouldn't worry about it, I happen to know that the guy who runs the UK's biggest mobile review site had to write his review in 5-6 shops, because they all had Z10 demo models but Blackberry wouldn't return his calls.
