HTC Butterfly review: The droid monarch

18 February 2013
Going by sales in the past year alone, it's easy to forget that HTC still makes some of the best hardware in the smartphone game. Despite the fact that it was the first to release a smartphone with a dual-core Krait chipset, the first to launch a...

I saw this phone last weekend. I got to say nice great. But what I realy hate is that it is too late to distribute here. Anyway as always both had a good and bad. Now thats weird is it me or just coincidence that its test in antutu, benchmark and gpu and others were below. Maybe too much customize in ui?? Xperia z or htc buterfly handsdown great value

What a beast will the M7 be with a smaller screen, bigger battery, and a revamped UI... Can't wait... Stereo speakers, a good camera and a perfect design and build quality. Mind blown!

Finally Htc appear to have nailed their audio output - and might even give Apple a run for their money there from the look of it?!

Also pleased that the screen is looking good too. Owned an S3 and hated the over saturated colours, and the terrible colour clipping artefacts seen when watching videos.

Hmm which one of these is going to tempt me away from my iPhone 5 back to android then? hmm, lets see what the S4 brings to the table - first sign of shitty colours and clipping and i wont be getting that.

Good phone. I still prefer Sony Xperia Z. White is white and not blue, hate that at S3 and Note2 and bad design, but they are making good phones. Viewing angel really dont care with Xperia Z. I saw some video samples and photos, i dont know why they are bashing camera, video with HDR mode in night is far better then any other phone out there and photos too. Nokia is making good photos too, but i dont like Windows OS in phones.
        My vote goes for Sony.

Not only this, but the tests also showed that HTC's handset, despite its lower 385 nits brightness, compared to Sony's 400-440 nits, depending on the screen area measured, has a higher contrast rating of 1153:1, against the Z's 570:1, which makes black appear grayish. The higher contrast and better reflective coating also make the HTC Butterfly more visible in direct sunlight than the Xperia Z.

Here you can see the blue white in tghe HTC again, in the drape over his shoulders. Its not white at all on the HTC. But this is also where you can see the higher contrast of the HTC, there is slightly more detail in the brightest parts.

Why does Galaxy S3 look so cheap when you use it? Yes, its because of the blueish tint. I hate blueish whites.

I still tip in favor of Sony's Custom cooked UI over HTC Sense.
