HTC One preview: Take two

1 March 2013
The name is quite a statement, but one that befits a smartphone that has the makings of a masterpiece. The HTC One builds on a time-honored tradition of unibody design and packs all the very latest tech available - some of which exclusive - to make...

Under "Camera" you can find this sentence "Most high-res 27" computer monitors are at under 4MP resolution and HDTVs are at 2MP, so the resolution HTC One photos is okay"

You forget that every pixel on a display is made out out three basic colors - red, green and blue. This is not the case with majority of today's camera sensors, including the One's sensor.

Every photosite on a sensor (out of 4 million photosites) takes only one basic color. Plus, photosites have Bayer arrangement, meaning 50% of photosites capture green color, 25% capture blue and remaining 25% capture red.

Downsample imege from 4-million photosite sensor and image from 8-million photosite sensor to 1080p and see which one looks better on 1080p display.

I will NEVER put my cash on HTC again! For years I used their phones and it was great but recently I realized that if they go down, they do so because of the VERY POOR after-sale services. I mean, come on, I bought the very flagship phone - namely the mighty OneX - and after a couple of months, when the display is malfunctioning, you are asking me about the proof of purchase??? It is less than the year since you started shipping the thing! No, HTC, you became very unprofessional lately: high-end phones poor manufactured, no support for the customers whatsoever, the software is becoming more and more restrictive, sorry, you guys will lose this game and I am glad! No more money from my pocket and I will also advise everybody to do so!

      It's a grat phone.
      It's a great phone computer.
      It's a great pocket computer.
      It's a great Personal Computer.

The most personal PC ever. ...and it looks good too.

One of the things that I don't get is why people get so agitated and consume so much energies on such unimportant things.
A phone is a tool. Period. It's not a proof of social status or "coolness". A phone don't make you smart or dumb.
Of course, one choice or another all toghther with a lots of other factors shows who you are. But not the phone makes you who you are.
And why so much fuzz? Same was last year with HTC ONE X and SG3 or iPhone 5. Same was 2 years ago with that year's flagships, same will be next year when phones like HTC ONE or SG4 will be already obsolete.
I have a HOX (not HOX+) with 2100mAh. It's last year flagship with an upgrade of it's weakest part: battery. It's obsolete? By HTC ONE's standard..yes. By practicality and every day use of it's hardware and existing sofware..will be at highest standards for ad least 3-5 years from now. Damn, even HTC HD2 suit the needs of a lot of people even now..after 4 years.
HTC ONE IS a great phone! It has the best screen from the market (Amoled screens are more colorful but not so accurate in color reproductions), a cool unibody, most probably a good battery life (that will be a premiere ;) ) and top hardware (for this time). Some care, some don't care about removable battery, some care some don't care about microSD, some care some don't care about Sense, some care some don't care about the ulta pixel hype. will it fit the needs of everyone? No! Does it make this a bad phone or a perfect phone? No!
In the end...it's a spectacular phone that wipe the floor with today's phones but will get wiped, itself, when the time will come..sooner or later.
          IT'S JUST A TOOL! :))))

why they cant use some images taken by Pureview 808 in comparing their so called "ultrapixel"? HOPE GSMarena will do a review of best cameraphone for 2013. HTC is too immature in terms of imaging and relying with the beats audio branding which is not too good quality in my ear. People will not view the images in the microscope so why ultrapixel.. *facepalm*

                  Very nice phone.
The camera is ok for me.I thing if the ultrapixel thing was with 8mp camera, it would be awesome.
Quadrant benchmark is more than 11.700.
other sites have HTC one with 12.500 score in quadrant but anyway.
I am gonna buy one for sure.
                  Nice job HTC.

Anonymous, 02 Mar 2013you still think more pixel better? my 4mp nikon dslr takes ... moremore mpixel is not better, but has to be said, that in this case 4 mpixel is not 3 times bettere then a sony xperia Z or in this review than lg optimus pro...

so they could have achieved 8mpixe with same sensor, and almost same quality...

USUALLY 4 mpixel on the same sensor size are better...
but bviously there are also many quality-wise things... post elaboration made by multimedia cpu, software optimization, lens, etc etc...

in these first photos one is similar to best 13mpixels cameraphones, but with 3 times smaller sensor... cause don't forget, probably it has a slightly better quality, but has also MUCH LESS resolved detail... so, where i can correct a little of noise in postproduction, i can't create new details wich camera didn't take...

Proximity sensor is too much on the side. It will cause endless interrupted conversations. Aluminium is always too slippery and etc.
Despite some major not practical solutions, phone looks good.

Anonymous, 02 Mar 2013you still think more pixel better? my 4mp nikon dslr takes ... moreIndeed, also i have an 4mp point&shoot olympus ultra zoom, every person who saw the pictures taken with it ask me what "super dslr"i have.it is old but the image quality with the big sensor is almost unmatched even today by the most trilion pixel marketing b***it.i found 4 mp being perfect.every smartphone user should know that, and is a pitty, smartphones nowdays is a trend, and someare not used by smart people, just some trolls with no technical knowledge, who comapre devices by specs on a paper,or blog..etc.in real life is another story.

I've been able to spend quite a lot of time with this handset and honestly, I love it. The build is amazing, feels really premium. I was skeptical about blinkfeed at first but it delivers everything they set out for. And trust me, as soon as you see the pictures this takes, you will think differently about megapixels. So what if i can't print my pictures on a billboard, I get amazing shots with a much smaller file size which makes sharing so much easier. Oh, and if you need expandable storage, it's MHL enabled so just use a flash drive! i could go on and on.

Hope Samsung will pack us a nice surprise with S IV.
I think the down side for HTC is Camera still not that great i though the new Camera technology will give greater image.
