Xperia ZL IR remote does not work on manual setup. It learns codes but does not work. Its worldwide xperia ZL factory defect and sony does not have any solution for it. They are just selling defective phones. I contacted sony India many times but no solution is provided yet. So like me if you are excited about universal remote function dont be so.

The camera has been updated by Sony for both Xperia Z and ZL with the latest firmware update. I think this review deserves an update. :)

The JB interface section made a point stating that the notification area was not available from the lockscreen. It may have been due (not certainly) to the fact that the security was set to something either than slide to unlock. I have previously owned an Xperia Phone (XSL), and this has been the case, and a reason why I stopped using a security measure to lock/unlock my phone.

Comparing my Galaxy S2 with an Xperia ZL at a showroom, my S2 black images were so black that they lacked detail, like a part of the AMOLED screen just did mot light up. Black images in the ZL were not so deep and I could make out various shades of grey.
I checked out PSY's gamgnam style in youtube on both at the same time, and it was clearer and sharper on the ZL with greater detail in dark scenes.
I think the "not-so-black blacks" issue with the ZL is overblown, while the "very deep blacks" character of the S2 is overhyped.
Will consider upgrading to Xperia ZL when my S2 contract ends.

the panel is not bad at all. I own the Xperia ZL and unless your trying to rip the back panel off its held together really well. And I prefer the small size compare to most smartphones with 5in screens.

sony xperia zl is the best phone ever, best camera ever, and best display. much better than galaxy s4 and one x and iphone 5s or note 3

Besides even if you heard about bad picture quality i'm a photographer and i can tell that you can't expect better from a phone the pictures are very nice especially if you use the HDR feature, you can also take videos under water which is very cool :))
