The Xperia Tablet Z gets a prominent spot in a long list of iconic designs by Sony. Easily one of the best looking tablets around, the Z inherits the slim, water-resistant design of its smartphone counterpart, which earns it extra points with the outdoor-loving...

I'm planning to buy this tablet! Since it's very light and thin, I recognize this as being handy to be carried around inside my bag without minding some extra weight. :)

Good review as always that's why your reviews are for me - Most trusted. Point to note as another reader has said... Need to improve on the battery testing.... Since tablet usage pattern may not be similar to smartphone it would be more useful to develop your own battery test for tablets and please you need to compare apples to apples otherwise it's bizarre

Synonymous, 31 May 2013TheNeighbor: I'm pretty sure the XZ tablet's TFT screen is ... moreI said taking ques from previous devices what Sony has been doing. Their product screens aren't as impressive as other brands lately. One thing is sure - Sony provides terrible battery backup.

I'm not the only one using the same ip address of an entire mobile network. I'm posting with my 3G phone. Duh.

TheNeighbor, 30 May 2013"Don't get cheated by "features".. "???... moreTheNeighbor: I'm pretty sure the XZ tablet's TFT screen is as unimpressive with angle view discoloration.

GSMA's Team: Unlike Sony phones, viewing angles on the Xperia Tablet Z are very good with a minor contrast loss when viewed at an angle.

Troll spotted! Before you post a comment be sure to read the review, or be sure to read just the issue that you're pointing out, like the dispay review of the tablet. And you've posted twice with different name. First you said a positive feedback and that you'll buy one. Then used another name and had said a lot of negative feedback.

Since I'm a regular visitor of GSMArena, every time I'll see a post of "TheNeighbor", I'll always give it a doubt. Sorry troll.

TheNeighbor, 30 May 2013"Don't get cheated by "features".. "???... moreThere are some apps in the Google Play offer similar multitasking function/capabilities as well, though most of them are not free apps and "not that capable" compare to Samsung's "multi-window". And Sony's "Small App" feature also can be consider as a good alternative as well for multitasking.

Anyway, in the end, it just a matter of choice.

Anonymous, 30 May 2013This sony tablet have better screen resolution /chipset/cam... more"Don't get cheated by "features".. "?????!!!! Haha, yeah, get a lesser productive device instead. The thing is, you can't even have a multi-windows tasking with the XZ tablet even with its impressive screen pixel density. Taking ques from its cellphone counterpart, I'm pretty sure the XZ tablet's TFT screen is as unimpressive with angle view discoloration. Also just like what I saw with the Xperia S tablet.

I hope the battery is satisfactory for this lesser features device. What else is it good for other than waterproofed and encouraging picture taking with its higher resolution camera? Do you have an existing photography career?

Battery is better than one would expect. Very good, however one must not forget that this test ga uses is only about page loading, in real browsing you will zoom and scroll, it really is hard on the battery. I have tried on GNote2 and the battery would drain very fast when doing just normal zooming and scrolling, as this is hard on the CPU and GPU compared to only page load and render. The good news is that you dont need to zoom and scroll that much on a tablet, Tablet Z may last nearly as long as inn this test. I will buy one.

Just a few thoughts on the review. The review itself was done very well I do like reading the reviews on this website as I find the reviews very thorough and balanced.

Having said that what I did find a little weird or disturbing is the need to compare tablets to mobile phones in terms of battery performance, screen, sound, power and processing and on a fairly inconsistent basis too.

I think the review might have been more helpful and informative for the reader when deciding between what tablet to purchase if the tablet was just compared against other tablets and on a very consistent basis.

                                  Best tablet as of yet.
I think gsmarena sums it up well. It might not have extreme specs but the looks and ipx7 feature will be a deal breaker.
