never buy cheap android phone, it's cheap for a reason.
always buy the biggest battery capacity, always.
buy extra battery if you are a heavy users.
dont use auto brightness, set it to 30%.
never play games unless it's plugged into a charger.

This is all great for customizing my phone. Most top of the line androids already have great apps. For example Samsung has a habit of buying into (or partnering with) the companies that make the popular custom stuff and putting them into the S- and Note series. So do other brands. Still, many users eventually realize they have very specific needs.

I think given the world wide concern with PRISM and how easy one can access all thing Google, Facebook, and Twitter, the real issue is security and privacy. Whilst I can appreciate how far Android has come, there remains serious issues of security and built in spyware that Geeks seem to choose to ignore. The second issue is superfluous software and functionality. You can spends days intimately engaged with your Android mobile only to come back to basically where you started from, and there seems to be a propensity of software engineers to incorporate rubbish functionality that takes up too many resources and are simply not needed. To me Android is good to use but would not trust it as far as I could kick it. We went back to Blackberry Z10 (which is OK for the job)for just the slightest glimmer of a little corporate security in today's world. WE have also blocked Facebook and other non BB so called social media to help stop corporate spying. It is the best we can do at the moment given our sensitive business. So for all you Geeks out there, perhaps you are contributing to security issues with your naive gullible easy going view of the real world issues.

No love for Vire launcher? Actually the first launcher worth buying imo. Can't believe you're missing XMBC (have to go to the website and download the apk). Great player and lots of extra content if a little crowded.

"Boat Browser" is the best browser and it supports Adobe Flash on Jelly Bean!
I recommend the apps "WolframAlpha" and "Calculus Course Assistant" and "Algebra Course Assistant", and I recommend "Andie Graph" and rom from here http://web.tiscali.it/magazzinocartoniani/
I also recommend "XiiaLive™ - Internet Radio", and "Pure news widget" and "Pure messenger widget" and "Pure Grid calendar widget", and I definitely recommend the app "Root Call Blocker Pro"

Art, 20 Jun 2013any other OS take half the time to set up "properly" Why don't you iOS users get it. Customization is a choice. Nobody is placing a gun at your forehead ordering you to customize in the android world. :P
In fact most phones come with pretty good defaults. :-) . The galaxy range comes with a good browser, a very capable media player and good file manager along with the expected suite of SMS/phone/contacts/email apps. The full Xperia suite is nice as well. :-) . Never used an HTC/LG to comment on them.
Most users get the phone ready to use when they unwrap it. A minimal config (mail id/passwords/WiFi) is always needed though. Even iOS forces it.
