Revolut lands in the United States

Yordan, 24 March 2020

Revolut is a financial service that is highly popular in Europe with over 10 million users but hasn’t seen much use outside the Old Continent, until now. Starting today, the platform is finally officially available in the United States, completing the beta test that started in June 2019 and featured 60,000 users.

Now American customers can use its banking services and technologies. Revolut’s partner in the USA is the New York-based Metropolitan Commercial Bank.

Revolut is finally official in the United States

Revolut is one of a series on Neobank platforms that lets you send money quickly and often times cheaper than traditional banks. Much like the PayPal-owned Venmo it owes a lot of its success on the user friendly smartphone app available for both Android and iOS.

Attractive exchange rates and the option to get a physical contactless debit card for free are among its key advantages.

There are three tiers of membership, with the basic one being free, while the premium one is $9.99 per month. Strangely enough the $14.99 Metal plan is still listed as “coming soon” in the US.
