I just got Rugby IV and I was just starting to work out how to use it (the instruction sheet is very basic - if you wanted to know how it all works, buy another phone), when the thing gave up the ghost. Well, to turn in on you have to take the battery out and put it back in again. Then it starts up, but none of the buttons work, so you can't access anything. I'd never recommend this phone to anyone - had a Nokia for years and never had a problem with them. I've gone back to my old 1995 Nokia brick and it's working fine. Thanks for nothing AT&T and Samsung!

I've had this phone for almost four years with no problems. It has been dropped on pavement while I was at a full run. The only damage was a slight ding in the side of the phone. It isn't the best camera in the world but as a phone it is terrific. The PTT button is - was - a pain until I pried the button out of the scocket and snipped off the little tip that engages the PTT. The button snapped back into place and the problem was solved. It's a pity this is a discontinued model as I would get another in a heartbeat. Also, the on-board sound recorder is very sensitive, and handy.

I have had the phone for a year and a half, reception could be better, but tougher than anything, it has gone swimming twice, I can wash it with soap and water after I go fishing, It has been dropped more than 10 times, but never on purpose :). It keeps a charge for two days

Steve Lanning, 09 Dec 2010I've been using the Rugby II for 3 weeks and have discovere... moreI agree, the push to talk thing is a pain, but after a while, you get used to hitting the red button to turn it off, and EVERY other thing about this phone, if you're looking for one that is tough and still versatile.... is awesome. I dropped mine into a hottub and it didn't even drop the call!!!

I got my first Rugby about 2.5 yrs ago. Finally broke it when I dropped it on purpose to show a sales rep at the radio shack, how tough it is... but then at&t replaced it at no charge.
I've dropped this phone at least one hundred times, it's been sprayed with hoses, sprinklers and dirt, but tonight, the most amazing thing: dropped it into my hottub while I was talking to my boyfriend. After I fished it off the bottom, we were still connected!!! It's still working, a few hours later.

I know an Iphone would be wrecked by me within a few weeks, but this phone has survived far beyond my dreams!!! Love it:)))

I've had this phone for about 2 years. My company issues a free blackberry, but I got sick of carrying that in a belt holster and having to protect it from shock and water.

This has been pretty good. It's gotten wet, dropped, I keep in in my pocket (even when working under a truck), something that I could not do with the blackberry.

Sensitivity is not ideal and volume could be better, but otherwise it does what it's supposed to do without 'babying'

I've been using the Rugby II for 3 weeks and have discovered that the Push-to-Talk button prompts me to respond every time I pick up the phone due to its button placement and can't be turned off. Every time I use the phone I must push "No" to initialize PTT before I can use it. This purchase was a big mistake. I'm looking for a new phone.

I had this phone it worked good for 6 months then it quit getting service. ATT said it was an engerning error and I have been having problems with it for 3 months or longer. It does not work more than it does. For the price I payed for it this phone is junk! A .50 phone would have been better and as for ATT they do not care weather my phone wks or not I am discusted with them all. ATT does not stand behind their products and the Samsung Rugby was one of the worst mistakes I ever made!!!!

I actually have had no problems with the phone as of yet, however after I got the phone and not knowing everything about it I find out that ATT no longer has the PTT service. They should take this phone off of their sale items and Samsung needs to communicate with ATT and get it taken care of.

I purchased this phone on 4/5/10 and was told in was basically indestructible, that is bull crap, on May 7, 2010 by husband got into the car and it hit the seatbelt flipped out of the case and hit the ground, the phone broke into. In the sales pitch they make it sound so tough, this is about the 4th phone my husband has had and he has never broken any of them.

First this is no Nokia and will never have service as good as my Nokia 6085 had .I used my Nokia 6085 for over 4 years and never dropped a call.I switched over to the Samsung A837 which was a very bad decision, the only decision that I made that was worse was getting married the second time. The battery does not last over a day and a half and if you place two calls of 30 minutes you have to charge the battery.I have dropped at least 50 calls in a month and a half and have been unable to make calls where my Nokia had full signal.DO NOT BUY THIS PHONE IF YOU NEED GOOD SERVICE.I am looking for a Nokia 6085 to purchase and I will put the Rugby on the shelf to wait for the 2 year contract to be completed. If I had known how this phone is I would not have accepted it for free and it get me hot under the collar to think I paid almost two hundred dollars for it.God Bless The USA
