mido, 27 Feb 2010is there an option to make the 2 leds of signal off?
what ... moreHi,
There is an option to to turn on/off the blue network LEDs.
As to the WAP browser, its by Access. I think it allows smooth browsing, as far as EDGE speed is concerned. You can set a 'virtual pointer' like a tiny mouse cursor and move around the page with the phone's navigation keys. Other usefull options are Set page size, Page Pilot (a sort of thumbnail view of the whole page for quicker selection), Search text...

stv, 23 Feb 2010very comprehensive rafa , thank you.
just one question, ca... moreHi STV,
The security features for B5702 I have found are these...:
-Overall PIN lock, for one or both SIMs. The PIN is requested at phone's boot sequence for one SIM or both SIMs, and then you have access to the whole phone.
-Overall phone lock, sim lock (if SIM is physically exchanged).
-Individual Privacy Lock for call log, phonebook details, messages, My files, memory card, calendar, tasks and memos.
As far as I can tell, there is no password/PIN protection to access 'SIM Cards Management'. This would be an added value feature to the B5702... So anyone can access and use your work SIM card once the phone is turned on.

My impressions on Samsung B5702 Dual Sim.
I've been using a B5702 dual Sim for a couple of months now. I would like to share my experience as a user in order to have some feedback from other B5702 users.
My interest on the B5702 was to have a phone that would manage 2 SIM cards simultaneously, have a good battery life and for professional use. Overall, the B5702 does that quite well for what I expected...
(My Samsung B5702 has Portuguese firmware ver. B5702XCIF1)
Positive impressions:
-Good reception on both SIMs.
-EDGE Quad-band on both SIM card networks.
-Good profile customization per SIM card.
-Good enough sound quality.
-Good battery
-Works well with Parrot CK3100 Bluetooth Car Kit. The phonebook contacts are loaded and CK3100 will display the Default Network SIM, but then CK31100 will use the last used SIM on the phone to make a call.
Negative impressions:
-Phonebook does not allow to define a default SIM to use automatically per contact entry. (I often forget to change to the wanted SIM before making a call, and end up using the wrong SIM, that was last used. I think a default SIM entry per contact would help. Some Asian phones have a double green call button to solve this, which I agree would not favour the B5702's design).
-No quick turn-off option for Bluetooth to save battery power. To do this you need 6 movements: Menu/Applications/Bluetooth/Options/Settings/Activation on-off. Even a MY Menu short-cut it is not practical...
-No 'scheduled power on/off'. This is a useful feature to save power during sleep time, and is now found on some phones.
-The side SIM Selection Key should have a 'braille dot', in order to make it easier to find by touch.
-The side SIM Selection Key is not well positioned at the bottom of the phone. Should be positioned at the top side near the index finger.
-The management of the Default Network SIM with the SIM Selection Key is also not functional, and can be confusing for some users: If used on the Home screen, it will ask to change the Default Network SIM, and then reboot... The recent Samsung C6112 dual SIM has overcome this by using this SIM Selection Key to simply change the SIM card (and associated SIM Home wallpaper) on the Home screen without any rebooting. It is also well positioned on the top side of the phone and easily felt.
-An animated GIF file will not play completely on phone's Home screen. Is this a bug?? (I have noticed that the Home screen GIF reader will play a file for about 3 seconds, and then will restart the animated GIF. Therefore, a GIF file with a longer animated time-frame will not totally be displayed. On the other hand, if that GIF file is viewed under MENU/My Files, it is played completely...)
-The dual blue LEDs can be useful to know which SIM is active and being used, but they are too bright, especially at night.
-The dual blue LEDs are underused... They indicated SIM network connection/activity, but with a little more from Samsung's engineers, they could also be used to flash green, red, amber colours to visually notify missed calls, unread SMS/MMS, low battery power, etc...

Rafa3L
