Settings > Display > Smart home > Smart idle > Edit and uncheck all the options.. And save it.
Tada! You can set pic. Of your favourite person without getting that clock infront of them!
And yes, when smart idle is active, you cant use shortcuts set for 5-way D-pad....

I own metro-3310i, which is a twin bro. Of monte..
Both have same problem, that Camera hangs on 1200*1600 resolution.
I reached service centre 5 times in first month, but it is not solved.
*TIP>> If you want to check the status of your battery, just type *#0228# and navigate up/down for battery info. It is safe to try this, and is very much useful also.

Mines stuck in thai language, and i don't know how to change to english.

I like samsung fone they r catching up with the top brand..but the main problem with samsung fone is that..Its earpiece are too loud even when we put it in the lowest volume...so its a bit problem ..like when ur frens are beside u...they can hear every thing what we r talking about...even these goes to c3200 monte bar.battery back up is good but charging takes a long time.

Its been 2 months now that I have been using this set. I got it for INR 3400. I owned a Guru Dual Speaker before. All I have to say is that no other phone in the market can offer this many features for so low a price. Here are a few points I would like to share with all--
1. Looks are awesome. Sexy backcover. Keypad is excellent for fast texters. The backcover, however, tends to attract fingerprints and looses shine.
2. Screen is 2.0" (compared to Metro's 2.1". Come to think of it, Monte beats Metro in just the looks, otherwise both have the same features with the same OS.) It has a 65k display which has some contrast issues and clarity issues when playing video.
3. Signal Reception, Network Registration, Call voice clarity is excellent. This is what a mobile is actually supposed to do and Monte does it well.
4. Camera is of 2MP with a focal length of 3.7mm. Zoom is not available at a maximum resolution of 1600X1200. This feature is not available in many Samsung phones. I had thought Samsung would change it in this model. But nevermind. For those who are facing problems in saving pictures there is ONLY ONE effective solution- disable 'menu transition effect' (under display settings) then restart phone. Video recording is average at 176X144@15fps.
5. There can be no bad sides to Samsung's UI. It is very simple and intuitive and looks good too. Samsung has also introduced a 'Smart Home' feature which displays several icons right on the desktop for the ease of use. However, the presence of a big clock display in normal display modes (when there's already a smaller clock on the top-left) was unnecessary, or there should have been atleast an option to remove it. You can make custom themes by copying the pictures you like into the phone memory. It DOES NOT support 3rd party themes so don't waste your time and internet.
6. The bestest thing about this phone is the music. Samsung has outdone itself in this feature. The music player is simply superb and easily competes with Sony Ericsson phones of the range of INR 10000 and above. There are several preset equalizer settings (the 'auto' setting is useless as no change can be observed). The earplugs provided have a good bass output and deliver some hard hitting beats. If you are a music lover then this is the CHEAPEST phone for you!
7. I must say that after using Guru Dual Speaker, I was highly disappointed with the phone's speaker. It is an average poor quality speaker and you cannot hear the phone ringing in traffic. I keep it in vibrate but then it drains the battery. Downloaded message tones tend to ring more than once which is irritating.
8. The battery is good. Lasts more or less for 36 hours with heavy use-- calls, music, net surfing, capturing photo/video etc. I'm a very active user and when I mean heavy use, I mean HEAVY USE!!!
9. Video playback is awesome for 3gp formats. However, audio-video sync problems arise when it is in mp4 format. Also, the phone does not support files larger than 150MB. So if you have to watch a movie then split it into parts.
10. Internet is really fast. With EDGE it delivers a really fast mobile internet experience. I have a vodafone connection. It takes about 3mins to download a song of 5MB. You can also install a java app called mTorrent to download torrents.(link- http://utorrentmobile.com/). The inbuilt browser is fast enough. I use BOLT browser which is f*cking fast!!(link- http://boltbrowser.com/dnld.html). With Opera I had some word spacing problems, there were no space between words. Palringo is useless. But the communities option is good with all popular social networking sites. You can watch videos on YouTube in normal quality, as HD is not supported. The playback of the stream was good at first, but nowadays I'm noticing that it has become garbled and jittery. Dunno what the problem is.
11. The Bluetooth is 2.1. What did they upgrade? Slowness?! Don't try to send files larger than 2MB-- you will die of old age. :P
12. Java installs .jar applications directly from memory card just like Nokia. Java applications larger than 750KB are not supported. No java app player like KD Player or TTPod are supported. 13. For connectivity use the 1.5 version of Kies as it is much better in looks and functions compared to the newer 2.0 version which is a complete waste of harddrive space. The data cable is about INR 750 for the original and anywhere between INR 70-150 for a China make.
14. The phone memory is 32MB of which almost a lot is used up by the inbuilt pictures and ringtones that a person rarely uses, but cannot delete them as they are locked. You can expand the external to about 8GB. But remember, the more the memory the more the time it will take to load. 4GB is the best choice. Another thing to remember is that the default camera storage changes to phone memory if the phone is restarted or connected to the computer. You will have to change it manually.
A new firmware is probably out. What Samsung needs to do is fix some of the issues mentioned above and also add some more basic functions like call recording etc.

blue tooth is too slow when compare to other set in same price........... i am using this set from 3 months it do not support download ....... it has good look and good video clearity but i didnt satisfied with downloading

yes bluetooth slow is a problem in this set. but another features are quite good like good dynamic sound jack 3.5 mm, brilliant display and video quality. another thing is very budget cell with good talk time standby feature and solid state design with great look and smart feel in hand.

pour le moment j'ai eu deux problemes c'est qu'il n'arrive pas a lire la musique de la carte memoire malgré qu'elle est de format mp3 ainsi que la charge qui ne depasse pas 48 heures en soulignant que j'ai pas trop d'utilisation

there is a problem with it's camera. It often hangs when taking a picture with the highest resolution(1600x1200). I found a solution for that. Just change the viewfinder mode to "no icons". It might works. If anyone have better solution please let me know.
